브레이크뉴스 임국정 기자 = KT가 초거대 인공지능(AI)을 연내 상용화하고, 이를 기반으로 KT의 모든 AI 서비스 수준을 한 단계 진화시킨다는 'KT AI 2.0' 비전을 공개했다.
KT는 지난 19일 서울 서초구 KT 융합기술원에서 'KT 디지코 스터디'를 열었다. 이날 행사에서 타운홀 인터뷰를 진행한 배순민 KT 융합기술원 AI2XL 연구소장은 '인터랙션 AI 코어 테크놀로지'(Interaction AI Core Technology)를 주제로, KT가 초거대 AI를 기반으로 개발 중인 음성 지능, 언어 지능, 시각 지능에 관해 소개했다.
KT는 더욱 진화된 AI를 구현하기 위해 AI 원팀에서 다자간 공동연구로 초거대 AI 모델을 개발하고 있다. 초거대 AI란 대용량의 연산이 가능한 인프라를 바탕으로 대규모 데이터를 학습해 사람처럼 스스로 사고할 수 있도록 설계된 AI를 말한다.
배순민 소장은 "KT 초거대 AI 기반으로 진화된 한국어 언어모델은 인간의 상호작용에서 가장 큰 특징인 '공감 능력'을 갖춘 최초의 AI가 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
KT와 AI 원팀은 초거대 AI 모델을 연내 상용화할 예정이다. 또 대규모 AI 연산 인프라를 구축하고, 향후 2000억 파라미터(매개변수) 이상의 모델까지 가능하도록 인프라 규모도 점진적으로 확대할 계획이다.
이를 통해 KT는 B2C 영역에서 연속적 대화가 가능하고 사용자의 감성까지 공감할 수 있는 차세대 AICC(AI콘택트센터, AI 기반 고객센터), 전문 상담 서비스 등을 개발할 예정이다. B2B 시장에서는 산업 현장에서 종사원들의 단순 응대 노동을 최소화해 궁극적으로 AI가 적용된 분야의 산업 생산성을 30% 이상 올릴 수 있다고 설명했다. 또 고도화된 AICC 솔루션을 활용해 올해 1800억원 이상의 AICC 수주를 달성하겠다는 사업적 목표도 밝혔다.
KT는 이 외에도 초거대 AI 및 KT 클라우드를 기반으로 AI 원팀과 함께 개방형 연구개발(R&D) 생태계를 조성하겠다고 했다. 또 '지니랩스'(GenieLabs.ai)라는 이름의 AI 연구개발 포털을 오픈해 KT AI를 금융·차량·로봇·물류 등 다양한 산업 분야로 확산하겠다고 설명했다.
배 소장은 "AI 기술의 연구와 발전은 실제 사업 현장과 사용자와의 종합적 인티그레이션(integration·통합)이 무엇보다 중요하다"며 "KT의 창의적 연구진들과 함께 다양한 세대를 포용할 수 있는 공감하는 AI 기술을 개발해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
