If you take the KTX in 2027, it will take you from Seoul to Geoje in 2 hours and 50 minutes.

If you take the KTX in 2027, it is expected that you will be able to travel from Seoul to Geoje in 2 hours.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 11th that the basic plan for the “Southern Inland Railway Construction Project” will be finalized and announced on the 13th.

The 'Nambu Inland Railway' will invest 4.8 trillion won in government expenditure with the goal of opening in 2027. It is a project that connects the single-track railway 177.9km (maximum speed 250km/h) from Gimcheon-si to Geoje-si, with a total of 5 stops and 1 vehicle depot.

In addition, the Southern Inland Railway has the largest project cost among the 23 projects selected for the 2019 balanced national development project. It is a core railway infrastructure project that will support regional economic development such as industry and tourism in the Western Yeongnam region.

In the future, when the construction is completed, a route will be prepared for the KTX/SRT from the metropolitan area to run from Gimcheon Station to Geoje via the Gyeongbu High Speed Rail, and a route from Jinju Station to Masan Station using the Gyeongjeon Line.

Through this, the western part of Yeongnam, which was previously a neglected area of the high-speed rail service, will be able to be connected from the metropolitan area by KTX (25 times a day) in 2 hours and 50 minutes. The required time is 2 hours 54 minutes from Seoul to Geoje, 2 hours 55 minutes from Suseo to Geoje, and 2 hours 37 minutes from Gwangmyeong to Geoje.

In addition, when the Suseo-Gwangju (under the 2022 basic plan), Icheon-Chungju (open in December 2021), Chungju-Mungyeong (open in 2023), and Mungyeong-Gimcheon (preliminary feasibility study in 2022) projects are completed, the southern The inland railroad is a core route linking Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, and Gyeongsang regions, and will play a role as a new rail transport network that can distribute the rail transport system concentrated on the Gyeongbu axis.

The stops are Gimcheon-Seongju-Hapcheon-Jinju-Goseong-Tongyeong-Geoje and Masan Stations. New stations will be established in △Seongju, △Hapcheon, △Goseong, △Tongyeong, and △Geoje, and Gimcheon Station (Gyeongbu Line) and Jinju Station (Gyeongjeon Line) will be upgraded to transfer stations. Masan Station uses the current station.

In order to increase the ripple effect of the opening of the Southern Inland Railway, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will work with local governments to develop the station area centered on the new station, connect the public transportation network, and establish a transfer transportation system to revitalize the new station early.

In the future, when the Gwangju-Daegu Railway (Dalbit Inland Railway) project is in full swing, Haeinsa Station (tentative name) will be installed as a transfer station with the Nambu Inland Railway. .

Meanwhile, the Nambu Inland Railway will promote the project through the turn key method and other construction methods for each tool after deliberation on the bidding method for large-scale construction. It plans to increase the productivity of railway construction and improve the quality through field management innovations such as the introduction of smart construction technologies (BIM, IoT, drones, etc.).
