브레이크뉴스 임국정 기자 = 여당인 국민의힘이 윤석열 대통령의 장모 최은순 씨가 사문서 위조 등의 혐의로 징역 1년형을 확정받은 것과 관련해 "억울한 측면이 있다"라고 17일 밝혔다.
정광재 국민의힘 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "처음부터 이 사건은 더불어민주당이 윤석열 당시 검찰총장을 공격하기 위한 압박용으로 시작됐고, 문재인 정권 검찰에서 무리하게 기소한 정치적 사건"이라며 "법리상 다툼의 여지가 많은데도 최 씨가 윤 대통령의 장모라는 정치적 이유로 가혹하게 실형 1년이 선고된 건, 이 판결이 정치적 판결이었음을 보여주는 방증"이라고 주장했다.
그는 "최 씨의 사문서 위조는 상대방의 사기 범죄로 인해 피해를 입는 과정에서 속아 발생한 일"이라며 "판결로 확인된 최 씨의 피해 금액만 50억 원이 넘고, 다른 사람의 사기 과정에서 속아 피해를 본 최 씨에게 실형을 선고한 것은 확실히 억울한 측면이 있다"라고도 했다.

1·2심 법원은 최 씨의 혐의를 전부 유죄로 인정해 징역 1년을 선고했으며, 2심 재판부는 지난 7월 "죄질이 매우 나쁘다"라며 최 씨를 법정구속했다.
