시인이자 서양화 작가인 이혜정 화가가 버킷 리스트 일환으로 시와 그림이 있는 '아름다운 동행' 부녀 전시회를 개최한다. 오는 11월 1일~30일까지 경기도 광명도서관 아트갤러리 1층에서 20점 가량의 작품이 전시된다. 아버지와 딸이 자신들의 시와 그림을 한자리에 전시하고 있어서 관심을 모은다.

-미술을 전공하게 된 특별한 동기가 있나?
▲그 시절 그림보다 더 하고 싶던 것이 없었다. 그림을 그릴 때는 다른 것을 잊고 몰두했다. 아마도 환쟁이 기질을 타고 태어난 듯하다. 늘 칭찬을 들어서 정말 그림을 잘 그리는 줄 알았다.
-본인의 작품 세계와 배경에 대해 들려 달라.
▲특별한 것은 없다. 다른 사람보다 세상을 좀 더 회화적으로 그리고 싶었을 뿐이다. 요즘 들어 이미지를 사실적으로 그리기보다 환유나 은유 또는 객관적 상관물로 표현하는데 집중하고 있다.
-좋아하는 화가 또는 시인이 있다면?
▲화가는 스위스 '파울 클레'를 꼽는다. 표현주의, 입체파, 초현실주의를 넘나드는 '클레'는 음악을 전공한 바이올리니스트다. 상상력과 예술의 끼를 시각적인 미술을 통해 할 수밖에 없는 운명이었을 것이다. 점, 선, 면으로 단순화시킨 형상은 그의 삶을 단적으로 표현해 주는 비움의 양식이었을 것이다. 나 또한 음악을 전공한 사람으로 동질감을 느끼고 그의 비움의 미학, 자유로운 표현방식의 미적 표현기법을 계속 배우고 있는 중이다.
시인은 칠레 '파블로 네루다'를 들 수 있다. 민중 시인이자 정치가인 '네루다'는 남미시인 최초로 노벨문학상을 받았다. 노동자와 농민의 낙원을 꿈꿨던 시인은 그 자신의 품격을 잃지 않고 수준 높은 시를 썼다. 어느 덧 '네루다'의 삶을 관통하는 주제 [사랑]이라는 화두를 나 또한 깨달아 가고 있다.

-그림, 문학, 음악 등 예술 영역에서 재능이 많다.
▲그림 그리기는 어렸을 적 시골에서 자란 내 심상을 잘 표현해 주는 것이다. 음악은 신을 더 잘 느낄 수 있는 통로다. 문학은 그 두 가지가 메우지 못했던 틈을 채워주는 매체인 것 같다. 셋은 같은 길을 향해가는 길이고 자연스럽게 그 길을 가게 된 것 같다.
-친정 아버님(이병구 장로)의 시와 그림도 함께 전시된다.
▲점점 노쇠해지는 아버지를 보면서 삶의 새로운 목표를 설정해 드리는 것이 중요하다고 생각했다. 예술은 노년의 새로운 일거리이고 성취감을 통해서 자존감과 기쁨을 동시에 느끼는 장르가 된 것 같다.

-버킷 리스트 일환의 부녀 전시회이다.
▲아버지의 그림과 글은 살아오신 자서전이기도 하다. 이번 부녀전은 가족으로서 하나가 되고, 아버지와 내가 서로의 사랑을 확인하는 작은 행사이다. 꼭 거쳐야 하는 삶의 버킷인 것이다.
-화가에게 아버지는 어떤 존재인가?
▲보호자였던 아버지는 나의 미래의 모습이며, 이제는 내가 보호자가 되어야 하는 분이다.
- 이번 전시회와 관련해 추가로 전하고 싶은 점은?
▲기본 수명이 길어진 우리의 시니어 세대들에게 동기부여가 제공되는 전시회가 되면 좋겠다. 예술은 누구나 도전할 수 있는 장르라고 강조하고 싶다.

Poet and Western painter Lee Hye-jeong holds a 'Beautiful Companion' father-daughter exhibition featuring poetry and paintings as part of her bucket list. About 20 works will be exhibited on the first floor of the Gwangmyeong Library Art Gallery in Gyeonggi-do from November 1st to 30th. A father and daughter are attracting attention because they are exhibiting their poems and paintings in one place.

-Is there a special motivation for majoring in art?
▲At that time, there was nothing I wanted to do more than painting. When I was drawing, I was so absorbed in it that I forgot about everything else. Perhaps he was born with the temperament of Hwangi. I thought I was really good at drawing because I was always complimented.
-Tell us about the world and background of your work.
▲There is nothing special. I just wanted to draw the world more pictorially than others. These days, I'm focusing on expressing images as metonyms, metaphors, or objective correlations rather than drawing them realistically.

-Do you have a favorite painter or poet?
▲The artist chosen is the Swiss ‘Paul Klee.’ Klee, who traverses expressionism, cubism, and surrealism, is a violinist who majored in music. It may have been his fate that he had no choice but to use his imagination and artistic talents through visual art. The shapes simplified into dots, lines, and planes may have been a form of emptiness that clearly expressed his life. As someone who majored in music, I also feel a sense of kinship and am continuing to learn his aesthetics of emptiness and aesthetic expression techniques of free expression.
Poets include Chile's Pablo Neruda. Neruda, a people's poet and politician, was the first South American poet to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. The poet, who dreamed of a paradise for workers and farmers, wrote high-quality poetry without losing his own dignity. ▲ As I watched my father grow older, I thought it was important to set new goals for his life. Art seems to be a new occupation in old age and a genre in which people feel both self-esteem and joy through a sense of accomplishment.

▲My father’s paintings and writings are also his autobiography. This father-daughter event is a small event where we become one as a family and my father and I confirm our love for each other. It is a bucket of life that must be passed through.
-What kind of person is a father to a painter?
▲My father, who was my guardian, is my future self, and now I am the one who must become my guardian.
- Is there anything else you would like to say about this exhibition?
▲I hope this will be an exhibition that provides motivation to our senior generation, whose basic life expectancy has become longer. I want to emphasize that art is a genre that anyone can try.
