김대기 대통령 비서실장이 17일 "나경원 전 의원 해임은 대통령의 정확한 진상파악에 따른 결정"이라고 밝혔다.
김 비서실장은 이날 언론 공지에서 "먼저 대통령께선 누구보다 여러 국정 현안에 정확히 파악하고 계신다는 점을 말씀드린다"며 "대통령께선 오랜 공직생활을 통해 공적 의사결정에서 실체적 진실을 가장 중요하게 여기시는 분"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "국익 위해 분초를 아껴가며 경제외교 활동하고 계시는 대통령께서 나 전 의원의 그간 처신을 어떻게 생각하실지는 본인이 잘 알 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
앞서 나 전 의원은 페이스북에 "대통령께서 그런 결정을 내리시기까지 저의 부족도 있었겠지만 전달 과정 왜곡도 있었다 본다"며 "그러기에 해임이 대통령 본의가 아니라 생각한다"고 올렸다.
다소 이례적인 김 비서실장의 이같은 입장 표명은 나 전 의원이 저출산고령사회위원회 부위원장·기후환경대사직 해임과 관련해 올린 페이스북 글에 대해 정면 반박하면서 '해임'에 이은 또 다른 공개 경고로 보인다.
