이광재 국회사무총장은 29일 국회 소통관에서 기자회견을 통해 “일류국회가 일류국가를 만든다”며, “일류국회가 되려면 국민과 소통해야 한다”고 말했다.

이광재 사무총장은 “'국민과 소통하는 국회'가 되어야 국민의 집단지성이 발휘되는 국회가 탄생한다”며, “이를 위해 대국민 소통강화를 위하여 오는 10월 4일부터 ‘언제, 어디서든, 누구나, 실시간’ 국감시청이 가능하도록 국회방송 및 유튜브중계 채널을 2개에서 4개로 확대하여 운영하고자 한다”고 밝혔다.  

 

이 총장은 “국민적 관심이 큰 위원회를 중심으로 국회방송 유튜브를 통한 실시간 중계를 우선적으로 확대한다.”며, “특히, 현장국감의 경우 상임위원회 협의와 피감기관의 의견수렴을 거쳐 실시간 현장국감 중계를 점차 확대해 나갈 예정이다”고 설명했다.  

 

이어 “지난 2019년에 시작된 미디어지원관 제도를 혁신적으로 개편했다. 미디어지원관이 사실상 ‘위원회 대변인’과 같은 역할을 하도록 그 임무를 부여했다”며, “미디어 지원관 제도를 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다. 

 

아울러 “위원회 행정실장 또는 중견과장 등 정책총괄이 가능한 3∼4급으로 총 32명을 미디어지원관으로 지정했다. 국민과 언론이 좀 더 쉽게 입법, 예산, 정책에 접근할 수 있도록 하겠다”며, “미디어지원관 명단과 연락처는 보도자료에 첨부하여 공개하겠다”고 말했다.

 

그는 “국회의원 주최 세미나의 실시간 전달시스템을 구축하겠다. 의원회관 세미나실에서는 매일 입법 및 정책 세미나가 개최되고 있다. 그러나 많은 세미나가 국민에게 알려지지 않은 채 진행된다.”며, “올해 시범적으로 3개의 세미나실에 생방송 할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하겠다. 향후 의원회관 전 세미나실로 확대하겠다. 국민과 언론은 매일 평균 5건 이상 개최되는 수준 높은 세미나를 시청할 수 있다”고 강조했다. 

 

이광재 총장은 “국회는 위의 세 가지 외에도 김진표 의장 취임 이후 지난 9월에는 ‘금주의 국회’, ‘오늘의 국회’를 시작했다.”며, “국회의장, 299명의 국회의원, 18개 위원회, 국회 도서관, 예산정책처, 입법조사처 등 국회구성원들의 활동을 한눈에 볼 수 있게 추친해 나가고 있다”고 설명했다.
