“There are no enlightened people in this world, only moments of enlightenment exist”

- Poet Kim Deok-kwon

Do you know the Buddhist Zen method? Zen meditation (參禪) is one of the most representative Buddhist practices in Buddhism. It is said to have originated from the Dharma monk who brought Buddhism to China.

According to the Zen method, sitting Zen meditation is common. Other than that, depending on the circumstances, there are the line of going (行禪), the line of standing (立禪), the line of thought (事上禪) performed while working, and the line of relaxation (臥禪), which is performed while lying down. And in our Won Buddhism, we mainly practice the 'non-watching zen (no time 禪) and ignorant zen (無處禪)' practice regardless of time and place.

Other than that, I do sit-down danjeonjuseon In any case, through this line, one enters into the samādhi of one sympathy and five dailies Also, exchanging the answer with the Hwadu, which is a highly difficult problem, is called Seonmundap (禪問答) among meditators.

<Imjerok(臨濟錄)>, <Byeokamrok(碧巖錄)> and <Jojurok(趙州錄)> are famous as the Jojorok(祖師語錄) that recorded these Zen questions and answers. But Zen is nothing special. to see one. If you look at the character 'Seon', the character 'one dan (單)' is combined with 'Bolsi (示)'. So seeing one is good.

A person who sees this one will be able to maintain a calm mind. But perhaps the most difficult thing in this world is to have this calmness. However, if we get rid of 'Agyeon(我見)' and 'Agility(我執)', we can keep our composure.

When we are freed from ‘dog and selfishness’, we enter into a normal mind that transcends life-and-death good and evil. If you practice the law of law and live the truth in this way, you will naturally attain a sense of calm and reach enlightenment. So, awakening the Way does not mean awakening through study or knowledge.

Realizing only one truth, “the truth of unity” is only possible through the practice of Jeongbeop. In this way, the feeling that we feel when we become one with the truth, which is the state of goodness, is Zen-yeol (禪悅). Genuine zeal is the joy that comes from realizing the truth and having a calm mind, thinking deeply about one's circumstances, environment, temperament, and surrounding circumstances, and then making it completely one's own.

The Japanese 'Suzuki Zen' (禪師) said of this experience, "There is neither enlightenment nor enlightenment in this world. There are only moments of realization.” Can you imagine how great the realm of Seonyeol is?

That's right. Zen is ‘to pause for a moment and look deeply’. In general, when you hear ‘zazen’, the first thing that comes to mind is Shakyamuni’s zazen practice. This is the practice of traditional Indian religions such as Vedic, Brahmanism, and Hinduism. It is known to have had a profound meditation tradition since the early days of the Christian Church.

However, it seems that Christians have been away from meditation because it is different from orthodox studies. For that reason, there are many Protestants who pray earnestly, but few meditate. Shakyamuni and Jesus were transcendent seekers who realized the truth through meditation and were born again.

Shakyamuni meditated under a bodhi tree for 6 years, and Jesus experienced the realm of Zen through 40 days of meditation in the desert. Still, the meditation methods of Buddha and Jesus were quite different. Could it not have been that the different meditation methods were the realization of ‘mercy’ for Buddha and ‘love’ for Jesus?

If Buddha's meditation method was zazen meditation, Jesus' meditation method was zen meditation practice. In the New Testament, there are few records of Jesus sitting and meditating except for 40 days of prayer in the wilderness and a few hours of prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. I think this is why Jesus enjoyed pilgrimage while walking in the wilderness, mountains, forests, and rivers.

The famous Indian meditator ‘Osho’ argues that the momentary state of selflessness in which you and I become one is Zenyeol. This is thought to have the same meaning as the state of liberation (解脫) in the Buddhist scriptures, where the subject and the object become one. Osho said, “Meditation is the mother of learning, the root of culture, and a pleasant way to return to being a human being.” Isn't this the realm of 'Seonyeol'?

Among the hymns of Won Buddhism, there is <Song of Seonyeol>.

“The supreme teaching of the Dharma Hall/ Fever of the law that rises in the supreme morality/ In every heart, a clear mind opens the eyes of wisdom. Giving and taking care of the future/ I swear to this study and this business in one place/ Long live the Eoyeoruhwa ramp/Long live Ilwondae.”

How is it? This is the realm of 'Seonyeol'. Zen transcends religion. If we realize the truth through goodness, anyone can feel goodness. Why don't we make cham-seon our daily life and sing this zen-yeol's song energetically in the midst of sen-yeol? duksan725@daum.net
