유럽서 광폭행보 이재용 부회장, 반도체 직접 챙긴다

네덜란드 ASML·덴마크 imec 방분..사업방향·연구개발 폭 넓게 논의

이재용 삼성전자 부회장이 14일(현지 시간) 네덜란드 에인트호번에 위치한 ASML 본사를 방문해 피터 베닝크(Peter Wennink) CEO, 마틴 반 덴 브링크(Martin van den Brink) CTO 등 경영진을 만나 양사 간 협력 강화 방안을 논의했다.

 

이 부회장과 ASML 경영진은 △미래 반도체 기술 트렌드 △반도체 시장 전망 △차세대 반도체 생산을 위한 미세공정 구현에 필수적인 EUV 노광 장비의 원활한 수급 방안 △양사 중장기 사업 방향 등에 대해 폭넓게 협의했다.

 

이 부회장이 네덜란드 ASML 본사를 찾은 것은 2020년 10월 이후 20개월 만이며, 이번 미팅에는 경계현 삼성전자 DS부문장이 배석했다.

 

삼성전자는 반도체 연구개발 및 투자 확대, ASML과의 기술 협력 강화 등을 통해 EUV를 비롯한 차세대 반도체 생산 기술을 고도화시켜 파운드리 분야의 경쟁력을 키우고 메모리 반도체 분야의 ‘초격차’도 더욱 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

아울러 이 부회장은 다음날인 15일(현지 시간)에는 벨기에 루벤(Leuven)에 위치한 유럽 최대 규모의 종합반도체 연구소 imec을 방문했다.

 

이 부회장은 루크 반 덴 호브(Luc Van den hove) CEO와 만나 반도체 분야 최신 기술과, 연구개발 방향 등을 논의했다.

 

이 부회장은 imec에서 최첨단 반도체 공정기술 이외에 △인공지능 △생명과학 △미래 에너지 등 imec에서 진행 중인 첨단분야 연구 과제에 대한 소개를 받고 연구개발 현장을 살펴보기도 했다.
