브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘은 25일 법무부가 인사정보관리단 신설을 통해 공직후보자의 인사 정보의 수집·관리 권한을 갖게된 데 대해 "비정상화의 정상화"라고 강조했다.
송언석 국민의힘 원내수석부대표는 이날 오전 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'에서 "그동안 민정수석실이 과다하게 권력을 사용하다 보니 문재인 정부에서 문제가 많이 발생했다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "법무부에서 인사 검증을 하게 해 정부가 제대로 운영되도록 우리나라 헌법 정신을 살리는 방향성"이라며 "대통령실에 있는 분들은 전부 비서, 보좌진이다. 기능적으로는 정부 부처에서 인사 검증을 하는 것이 적절하고 헌법 취지에 맞다. 앞으로 민정수석이 전체를 통제하거나 인사 전횡을 하는 부분은 많이 사라질 것"이라고 말했다.
이어 그는 "법무부 장관은 개별적인 수사 사건에 관여할 수 없다. 수사·형사 사법 체계를 움직이는 사람이기 때문에 더 바람직하다"며 "대통령이 직접 나서지 않는다는 것 자체만으로도 엄청난 진전"이라고 의미를 부여했다.
장제원 국민의힘 의원도 이날 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "법무부가 인사 검증을 담당하는 것이 문제가 아니라, ‘한동훈’이 법무부 장관이기 때문인 것으로 보인다"라며 "이런 우려들에 대해 이해가 전혀 안되는 것은 아니지만, 걱정하지 않아도 될 것 같다. 한동훈 장관이 영원히 법무부 장관을 할 것도 아니고 윤석열 대통령은 인사 문제를 전적으로 법무부에만 맡길 분은 더더욱 아니기 때문"이라고 주장했다.
장제원 의원은 "향후 경찰 수뇌부 정비가 완료되면 경찰 내 정보 파트에도 인사 검증 기능을 둘 것으로 보인다"며 "이렇게 되면 ‘인재 추천 → 세평 → 검증’으로 이어지는 인사시스템이 ‘인사혁신처-법무부-경찰’이라는 다원화된 채널 속에서 가동될 수 있게 된다"고 기대했다.
반면 더불어민주당에선 "정말 '소통령' 한동훈이라고 불러도 이상하지 않게 됐다"며 비판의 날을 세우고 있다.
김남국 민주당 선대위 대변인은 지난 24일 브리핑을 통해 "측근 검사들로 대통령실-법무부-대검에 이르는 노골적인 검찰 수직 계열화를 구축한 데 이어, 법무부 장관에게 인사 검증과 인사 정보 수집 권한까지 몰아줬다"고 했다.
이어 그는 "그 정점에는 최측근 한동훈 장관이 있다. 한 장관은 법무부 장관이자 민정수석이며, 인사수석이자 검찰총장이다. 행정 각부의 장관은 국무위원으로서 동등하지만, 인사 검증을 맡는 법무부 장관은 사실상 총리 이상의 권한을 가지게 됐다"고 주장했다.
