President Yoon Seok-yeol, the first case of the conservative government

The firing order is still a labyrinth... The spirit of May must be engraved in the constitution...

President Yoon Seok-yeol and People's Strength lawmakers sang the 'March for the President' at the 'May 18 Democratization Movement Commemoration Ceremony' held at the May 18 Democracy Cemetery in Gwangju on the 18th. The fact that President Yoon entered the May 18 Democratic Cemetery with his bereaved family through the main gate of the May 18 Democracy Cemetery, and sang the “March for the President,” is actually the first case in the conservative government.

President Yoon also sang vigorously while holding hands with the participants in the seat next to him, including the families of the May 18 survivors, waving them back and forth. It is interpreted that this 5.18 commemoration ceremony was taken as a starting point to inherit and develop the 5.18 spirit and to show the will of unity.

President Yoon, who arrived at the Democracy Gate on this day, wrote in the guestbook, “The spirit of May will unite our people and protect us from crises and challenges,” and then passed the memorial. It is the first time that a conservative government president has entered through the Democratic Questionnaire. After that, President Yoon laid wreaths and incense at the memorial tower and paid in silence.

In the Power of the People, 100 lawmakers, including CEO Lee Jun-seok, attended the ceremony. In particular, the party is said to have distributed the sheet music of 'March for Impersonation' to lawmakers in advance to sing the song at the ceremony.

Regarding his feelings about proposing the 'March Song for Love', CEO Lee said, "There were some among our party personnel who suggested that we sing it individually, but today, it was meaningful because we decided to do it together at the party level." Change, and of course, I should have walked, but I hope that the late change is an irreversible change that will never go back to the past.”

On the other hand, the chanting of 'March Song for the President' has been escalated in controversy and conflict between the conservative and progressive governments before and after the annual commemoration ceremony. Since 2004, the year after the May 18th legal commemoration ceremony, 'March Song for Immortals' has been performed as a 'Chorus' at the official ceremony every year. At that time, former President Roh Moo-hyun and other participants in the ceremony stood up and sang along to the song.

However, in 2009, the third year of the Lee Myung-bak administration, the 'March for the Empress' was excluded from the official ceremony.

The choir form was maintained throughout the commemoration ceremony of the Park Geun-hye administration, and under the Moon Jae-in administration, former President Moon ordered 'sing a march for the president' at the 2017 commemoration ceremony, and the choir was sung again.

A march song for Lim that clearly reflects the era in May 1980! Was it so difficult to sing a song? Whatever the song is, the chanting of the march for Lim, the chorus, and the historical reaction, which is excluded altogether, must now be thrown away into history. The historical lesson is that the far-right conservative's anachronistic rhetoric should no longer exist. hpf21@naver.com
