코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19 신규 변이인 오미크론)상황에서 열리는 베이징 동계올림픽을 정치화·낙인화·오명화 하는 것을 단호히 배격하고, 과학을 기초로 전문성·공정성·건설성의 원칙을 견지하면서 한중교류촉진위원회는 2022 베이징 동계올림픽의 성공적인 개최에 대한 지지를 공개적으로 천명한다.
동계올림픽은 4년마다 개최가 되며 인종과 국가, 정치적 이념을 초월하여 전 인류의 세계적 축제의 장으로 평화와 화합을 증진시키기 위한 것이다. 게다가 2018년 평창올림픽, 2021년 도쿄올림픽, 2022년 베이징올림픽으로 이어지는 이번 베이징 동계올림픽은 동북아와 세계 평화의 번영에 지대한 영향을 끼칠 것이다.
중국은 역사, 경제, 정치적인 면에서 우리나라와 가장 가까운 이웃인 동시에 국제적 영향력에서 그 파급성이 매우 크다고 할수 있으며, 중국은 멀리 있는 이웃이 아닌 가까이 있는 이웃이고, 올해는 한중문화교류의 해이고 또 한중수교 30주년을 맞이하는 해이다.
하지만 한중 양국 관계에서 도전 과제도 만만치 않다. 코로나19 상황으로 한중 양국 정상회담이 성사되지 않고 있는데다 미국의 중국 견제가 전방위로 심화되고 있고, 특히 경제안보를 둘러싼 미중갈등을 격화시키고 있다.
현재 베이징 동계올림픽을 놓고 미국과 영국, 호주 등은 이미 "외교적 보이콧 검토"를 밝힌 상태다. 그러나 올림픽은 절대 정치화가 되어서는 안되며 올림픽은 지속적이고 건전한 방향으로 발전해야 한다. 이에 우리는 베이징 동계올림픽과 동계패럴림픽을 개최하는 것을 지지하며, 위의 대회가 무사히 성공하기를 천명한다.
미국은 내년 베이징 동계올림픽에 대한 외교적 보이콧을 선언한 데 이어 경제안보를 둘러싼 미중갈등을 격화시키고 있다.
