Samsung donates KRW 10 billion to the Korean Red Cross

Samsung announced on the 12th that it had voluntarily donated 10% of the special incentives received by its affiliates in December of last year and delivered about 10 billion won in donations to the Korean Red Cross.

The donation will be used to support the production of a new blood donation bus to solve the blood shortage problem, and it is expected to contribute to improving the domestic blood shortage situation.

Korea is suffering from a chronic blood shortage due to low birth rates and an aging population. In the past two years, as the COVID-19 outbreak has overlapped, group blood donations have plummeted, and in the medical field, there is even a crisis situation such as cancellation of surgery due to blood shortage.

The donation of Samsung executives is to join the social effort to overcome this blood shortage crisis and overcome difficulties together.

Choi Young-moo, president of Samsung's social contribution business, said, "Samsung executives have prepared a donation with the heart that they should be with society in difficult times." said.

Shin Hee-young, chairman of the Korean Red Cross, said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to Samsung for its steady sharing activities every year.

On the other hand, the new presidents of major Samsung affiliates will join the Honors Club this year as well. Following the new presidents joining the Honors Club in 2021, the new presidents of major Samsung affiliates who were promoted from this appointment will also be named on the Honors Club list to continue this noble oblige.
