브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 윤석열 국민의힘 대선후보의 선거대책위원회가 사실상 '김병준 체제'로 활동을 본격화하는 분위기다.
윤석열 후보도 김병준 상임선대위원장에게 힘을 실어주면서, 껄끄러운 관계인 김종인 전 비상대책위원장이 빠진 선대위가 자리매김할 것으로 보인다.
윤 후보는 최근에는 "김 전 위원장에 대해 자꾸 말씀 드리는게 별로 바람직하지 않다. 이제 더 말씀 드리지 않는게 좋겠다"며 김종인 전 위원장에 대한 언급까지 줄이고 있고, 김병준 위원장에 대해선 "역할 조정 문제는 없을 것 같다"고 힘을 실어주고 있다.
김병준 상임위원장도 일각에선 제기된 사퇴설을 일축하며 "열심히 할 생각이다", "경험을 바탕으로 제가 가지고 있는 모든 것을 다 이번 선거에 쏟아부을 예정이다", "선거가 하루가 급한데 그냥 있을 순 없다"라고 각오를 다졌다.
물론 김종인 전 위원장도 선대위 합류에 부정적인 입장이다. 김 전 위원장은 26일 오전 광화문 사무실 앞에서 '총괄위원장직을 맡을 생각이 없나'라는 기자들의 질문에 고개를 두번 끄덕이거나 "매듭을 짓고 싶은 사람이 지으면 될 일"이라고 선을 그었다. 김병준 원톱 체제 가능성에 대해 묻자 "그런 얘기는 나와 관계가 없다. 묻지 말라"고 목소리를 높이기도 했다.
김종인 전 위원장의 합류를 위해 노력해온 이준석 대표도 윤석열 후보 결정에 힘을 싣는 모양새다. 이준석 대표는 YTN 인터뷰에서 "일단 김병준 위원장이 사실상의 총괄선대위원장 격으로 활동하는 게 좋겠다는 생각이다. 당 대표인 저와 직책을 나눠 갖는 건 업무분장이 정확지 않아 상당한 혼란을 초래할 가능성이 있다. 그렇기 때문에 앞으로 선대위 운영에서 김병준 위원장이 사실상의 ‘원톱’ 역할을 당분간 할 것"이라고 했다.
다만 윤 후보측에선 아직 여지를 남겨두고 있어 막판 중재가 성사될 가능성도 배제할 순 없다.
총괄선대위원장직은 여전히 공석으로 두고 있다는 점과 캠프 내 실세로 볼 수 있는 권성동 사무총장이 "또 다른 방법을 써서라도 김 전 위원장을 모셔오는 작전을 펴야 한다"고 말하기도 했다. 김재원 최고위원도 김 전 위원장을 찾아가 선대위 합류를 간곡히 요청하는 등 물밑접촉은 계속되고 있다.

한편, 김병준 체제가 공고해지는 가운데 이준석 대표가 김병준 상임위원장의 26일 기자회견 일정을 사전에 알지 못했다는 점이 알려지면 당대표 패싱 논란이 또다시 재현되는 분위기다. 앞서 윤석열 후보가 국민의힘 입당 시, 이준석 대표가 불참한 가운데 입당식을 가져 '패싱 논란'이 한차례 일어난 바 있다.
이준석 대표는 26일 YTN뉴스큐에 출연해 "김병준 위원장의 기자회견에 대해 전혀 상의한 바 없다. 저는 기자회견이 어떤 의도로 무슨 목적이었는지도 파악이 안됐다"고 했다.
이 때문에 김병준 위원장이 기자회견 일정에 당대표에게 사전에 알리지 않았다는 점을 두고 의도적으로 이준석 대표를 패싱했다는 지적이 제기되고 있는 것이다.
이와 관련 홍준표 의원은 "모든 것이 로마로 통하듯이 정당의 모든 것은 당 대표를 통해야 한다"며 "당 대표를 패싱하고 당 대표를 깔보는 정당은 이익집단에 불과하지, 정당이라고 보기 어렵다"고 질타했다.
그러면서 "호가호위(狐假虎威, 여우가 호랑이의 위세를 빌려 호기를 부린다는 뜻)하는 사람이 많은 조직 일수록 그건 병든 조직이다. 아무리 나이가 어려도 선출된 당 대표가 당의 제일 어른이다"라고 덧붙였다.

Of course, former chairman Kim Jong-in is also negative about joining the senior committee. In front of the Gwanghwamun office on the morning of the 26th, former chairman Kim nodded twice or drew a line in front of reporters' questions, "Do you have any intention of taking the helm?" When asked about the possibility of Kim Byung-joon's one-top system, he said, "That kind of talk has nothing to do with me. "Don't ask," he raised his voice.
CEO Lee Joon-seok, who has been striving to join former chairman Kim Jong-in, also seems to be working hard on Yoon Seok-yeol's decision. CEO Lee Joon-seok said in a YTN interview, "First of all, I think it would be better for Chairman Kim Byung-joon to act as the de facto general election chairman." Sharing positions with me, the party's representative, could cause considerable confusion because the division of work is not accurate. Therefore, Chairman Kim Byung-joon will play a de facto "one-top" role in the operation of the senior committee in the future, he said.
However, candidate Yoon still has room, so the possibility of last-minute arbitration cannot be ruled out.
The position of the general election chairman is still vacant, and Secretary-General Kwon Sung-dong, who can be seen as an influential figure in the camp, said, "We need to use another method to bring in former chairman Kim." Behind-the-scenes contact continues, with Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won also visiting former chairman Kim and earnestly requesting him to join the senior committee.
Meanwhile, controversy over the passing of the party's leader seems to be reproduced again if it is known that Lee Joon-seok did not know the schedule of standing chairman Kim Byung-joon's press conference on the 26th in advance amid the solidification of Kim Byung-joon's system. Earlier, when candidate Yoon Seok-yeol joined the group, a "passing controversy" took place once at a party ceremony with CEO Lee Joon-seok absent.
CEO Lee Joon-seok appeared on YTN NewsQ on the 26th and said, "We have not discussed Chairman Kim Byung-joon's press conference at all. "I couldn't even figure out what the purpose of the press conference was," he said.
For this reason, it is pointed out that Chairman Kim Byung-joon intentionally passed Lee Joon-seok over the fact that he did not inform the party leader in advance of the press conference schedule.
