President Moon Jae-in "Failed to land on the Nuri orbit..It's great to climb 700 km."

“The launch in May of next year will surely be a perfect success.”

-kihong Kim reporter

Regarding the launch of the Nuri on the 21st, President Moon Jae-in said, "Unfortunately, it did not reach the goal perfectly, but the first launch achieved very good results."

President Moon Jae-in said in a message to the public after observing and receiving a report on the launch of the Nuri spacecraft at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, Jeollanam-do on the same day, "There are disruptions in the take-off from the launch control, the ignition of the engine twice in the air, the separation of the rocket, and even the fairing and separation of the dummy satellite. It was done without it, but putting the dummy satellite into orbit remains an unfinished task,” he said.

He continued, "It's great just to send the launch vehicle up to an altitude of 700 km into space, and it's a step closer to space." emphasized.

He continued, "If we check and supplement what we lacked today, we will surely achieve perfect success in the second launch in May next year." did.

He also said, "The space launch vehicle technology is the aggregate of national scientific and technological power. Competencies in various fields, from basic science to electricity and electronics, mechanics and chemistry, optics, and new materials, must be supported," he said. There are still only six countries," he said.

In addition, "It is a technology that is very difficult for latecomers to secure because it is the technology that the countries that developed first are guarding. However, we did it," he said. . Now, the day will soon come when we will load the satellite we made into a launch vehicle we made and launch it into the target orbit. The space age of Korea is near."

President Moon added, "We started late, but today we have achieved important results."

The Korean launch vehicle Nuri, developed with pure domestic technology with a 12-year development period and an investment budget of 1.95 trillion won, was launched at 5 p.m. on the same day and successfully reached an orbit of 700 km above the earth in 16 minutes, so the dummy satellite was placed in orbit. Yen ultimately failed.

Nuri will re-challenge the dummy satellite into space orbit through the second launch in May next year. If the second launch is successful, Korea will become the 10th country in the world with the ability to launch a space launch vehicle by itself, and the 7th country in the world to successfully launch a practical satellite weighing more than 1 ton.
