'Lee Kun-hee Collection' donated 11,000 to 23,000 items in total'Very well done'

Art works of'Lee Kun-hee Collection', Korea = I wish they could be used to build a great cultural power...

-Moon Il-suk Publisher

Advanced countries, such as the United States, Britain, and France, have well preserved the works left by artists, showing the aspect of a cultural powerhouse. The number of international tourists visiting museums and art galleries in these countries is increasing.

As Korea has become one of the world's top ten economic powerhouses, interest in high-end culture is increasing. This is probably because the will to enjoy high-class culture is growing as the country is getting richer. We must aim for a cultural power as well as an economic power.

Kim Gu (1876-1949), the 18th, 19th, and 20th President of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, said in Baek Beomilji, “I want our country to be the most beautiful country in the world. You don't want to be the richest country. Since I was heartbroken by the invasion of others, I do not want my country to invade others. Our buoyancy is enough to enrich our lives, and our strength is enough to stop the invasion of others. “The only thing I want to have is the power of high culture. Because the power of culture makes ourselves happy, and furthermore, it gives happiness to others.” Like this, Kim Koo preached'Korea = a cultural powerhouse'.

At a time when the social trend of creating a great cultural power continues, the family of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee, a total of 11,000 works of old art owned by Chairman Lee Kun-hee, as well as 23,000 works of famous domestic and foreign artists, is a national institution. It will be donated to the back.”

Recently, the survivors of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee said, "We have decided to pay the highest level of inheritance tax in Korea's history, and to give back to society such as medical contributions and art donation." The bereaved family said, “In the lifetime of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hoe, “corporate social responsibility and efforts for win-win growth” have been repeatedly emphasized. According to the will of Chairman Lee, we have decided to continue various social rehabilitation projects.” Among the social contributions revealed by the bereaved families of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee also included the donation of the'Lee Kun-hee collection (arts).

This magazine (Break News) said on April 28, “A total of 11,000 items, including a number of designated cultural assets such as national treasures, including many designated cultural assets, including chairman Lee Kun-hee's, world-class Western paintings, and modern art works by famous domestic artists, were donated to national institutions. “Inwangjesaekdo” by Jeongseon Gyeomjae (National Treasure No. 216), “Chuseongbudo” by Kim Hong-do (Treasure No. 1393), and “Cheonsu Gwaneum Bosaldo” (Treasure No. 2015), etc. 14 items, 46 treasures), as well as the only cultural assets or the oldest relics in Korea, as well as about 21600 pieces of antique art in private collection, such as ancient books and old maps, will be donated to the National Museum.” Then, “Whanki Kim's'Women and Jars', Park Soo-geun's'The Woman Who Crushes', Lee Joong-seop's'The Bull', and Jang Wook-jin's'Girl/Ferry', etc. About 1600 pieces of modern art such as drawings will be donated to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art,” he said. “Some of the works of artists who have left a great mark on Korean modern art are Gwangju Museum of Art, Jeonnam Museum of Art, and Daegu Museum of Art. , Park Soo-geun Museum of Art and other artists decided to donate.”

In addition, “The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, has Monet's'Pond with Water Lilies', Joan Miro's'Composition', Salvador Dali's'Centaur Family' and Chagall, Picasso, Renoir, Gauguin so that people can enjoy masterpieces of Western art in Korea. And Pizarro's works were also donated. It is unprecedented that designated cultural properties are donated to the country on such a large scale, so it is expected to contribute to the preservation of domestic cultural assets, as well as enhancing the people's right to enjoy culture and researching art history.”

The Lee Kun-hee collection can be said to be the largest ever collection of works from the location of the largest corporation in Korea. The survivors of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee contributed to strengthening the foundation of high-class culture in Korea by donating the'Lee Kun-hee Collection' to national-local cultural institutions or art museums related to artists without building or owning a museum or art gallery. The late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee's family's donation of the'Lee Kun-hee Collection' is highly honored. I hope that the artworks of the'Lee Kun-hee Collection' will be greatly used to build Korea = a great cultural power. moonilsuk@naver.com
