-Break News Incheon Park Sang-do Reporter
Incheon City announced that it will hold the ‘Peace Prayer Concert with Incheon Citizens’ at the Grand Performance Hall of the Incheon Culture and Arts Center on September 11th at approximately 7:00 PM, in collaboration with the Marine Corps Command, to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the Incheon Landing Operation Commemoration Week, honor the dedication of war veterans, and share the meaning of peace.
According to Incheon City, this concert is an event linked to the "76th Anniversary Incheon Landing Operation Commemorative Week (September 10–15)." It was organized to reflect on the historical significance of the Incheon Landing Operation and the sacrifices and dedication of the veterans, as well as to share the values of freedom and peace with citizens.
Under the theme "Beyond the Waves of Victory, Incheon and the Marine Corps," the performance unfolds through music and storytelling the determination and execution of the Incheon Landing Operation, the courage and sacrifice of the participating soldiers, and the image of Incheon regaining peace after overcoming the scars of war.
The performance unfolds in the following order: Chapter 1: Determination, A 1 in 5,000 Chance of Success; Chapter 2: Mission, Land in Incheon; Chapter 3: Comrades, Throwing Myself to Protect Us; Chapter 4: Landing, Beyond the Waves to Incheon; Chapter 5: Marines, The History of the Invincible Marines Continues; and Chapter 6: Incheon, The Sea Embracing Peace.
The event is set to vividly and movingly convey the historical significance of the Incheon Landing Operation through performances of various genres, featuring the Republic of Korea Marine Corps Band and acting team, as well as actors Yoo Mu-seon, Soprano Kim Jung-ah, singer Lee Young-hyun, the Incheon City Children's Choir, and the Sungui Women's University performance team.
Prior to the main performance, a disciplined pre-show by the Marine Corps Honor Guard will take place at the outdoor space of the Incheon Culture and Arts Center starting at 6:00 PM.
Approximately 1,100 people will attend this concert, including war veterans and their families, Marine Corps personnel and their families, key invited guests, and citizens.
Online pre-registration for public attendance closed early due to high interest, and on-site registration will not be available on the day of the event to ensure smooth operation.
The Marine Corps will send text messages to pre-registered attendees regarding necessary details for the event, such as ticket distribution.
Meanwhile, the "76th Anniversary Incheon Landing Operation Commemorative Week" will run from September 10 to 15 under the theme "Freedom Defended Together, Incheon, a City of Peace." Various events, including commemorative ceremonies, memorial services, the Incheon Peace and Security Forum, and a Citizen Peace Experience Zone, will take place throughout Incheon.
In addition, Incheon City announced that it will host the "2026 Unification Harmony Festival," a citizen-participatory unification cultural event, at the lawn plaza of Songdo Haedoji Park from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM on the upcoming 12th.
According to Incheon City, this event was organized in conjunction with Citizen Peace Week (September 4–19) to broaden citizens' interest and consensus on peace and unification, and to allow citizens to approach unification in a friendly manner through various experiences and performances.
This year is characterized by a shift away from operations focused solely on the day of the event. Instead, it organically connects online and on-site activities by introducing a step-by-step program that progresses from raising awareness in advance to on-site participation and experience, followed by post-event sharing and dissemination, ensuring that citizen participation continues well beyond the event.
Prior to the main event, an online participation event titled "Meeting Unification Empathy in Advance" will be held.
Participants who share the poster on their personal social media accounts or comment on unification-related questions on the Incheon Unification Plus Center's social media will be entered into a raffle to win souvenirs.
On the day of the event, a variety of side activities will take place at Songdo Sunrise Park for all citizens to enjoy.
The Performance Zone will feature an exciting lineup of performances, including youth dance and trot singers, as well as vocal music, magic, comedy, mixed duets, traditional North Korean music by the North Korean Refugee Art Troupe, and quizzes on inter-Korean language and culture.
Following this, the Experience Zone will operate 10 diverse booths, offering activities such as decorating unification bags, creating a wish tree, and making Korean Peninsula initial bracelets and keyrings.
In addition, recreational programs that the whole family can participate in will be prepared, including ‘One Heart, Shoot for Unification,’ ‘One Heart Basketball Challenge,’ traditional games, as well as the ‘Challenge Unification OX Quiz,’ ‘Building a Unified Korean Peninsula,’ and a Mission Tour.
After the event concludes, the plan is to encourage citizens to continue sharing the meaning of peace and unification in their daily lives through ‘Promoting Empathy for Unification,’ which involves sharing on-site photos and video reviews on social media.
Meanwhile, the ‘2026 Unification Harmony Festival’ is open to all citizens free of charge, and further details can be found on the Incheon Unification Plus Center website.
