Gwangju Bank and Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation Sign Financial Support Agreement for Small Business Owners' 'Integrated Refinancing Guarantee for Livelihood Recovery'

Consolidating fragmented guarantee loans to lower interest rates and extend repayment periods; applying a structure of full guarantee and installment repayment over up to 7 years… Bank President Jeong Il-seon: “We will continue to provide practical financial support for the resurgence of local small business owners.”

(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Gwangju Bank is launching customized financial support measures to significantly reduce financial costs and the burden of debt repayment for local small business owners who are facing management difficulties due to high interest rates and increasing economic uncertainty.

Gwangju Bank announced that it signed a ‘Financial Support Agreement for Integrated Refinancing Guarantee for Livelihood Recovery’ with the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation (Chairman Yeom Gyu-song) on August 31 and has launched and begun operating an integrated refinancing guarantee product for local small business owners. This agreement is based on the ‘Integrated Refinancing Guarantee for Livelihood Recovery’ system, which consolidates guaranteed loans scattered across various financial institutions into a single new loan. Its most significant feature is that it is designed to allow small business owners currently utilizing guarantees from the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation to manage the maturity, repayment terms, and interest rate structures of their loans from different banks under a single umbrella.

Until now, small business owners have faced the inconvenience of having to individually check and respond to differing repayment schedules and interest rate conditions at each financial institution. With the implementation of this integrated refinancing guarantee, not only is the convenience of debt management dramatically improved, but they can also significantly relieve the pressure of impending repayments by converting high-interest debt into low-interest, long-term debt.

The support conditions have also been exceptionally structured to consider the actual cash flow of small business owners.

The loan term can be set up to a maximum of seven years, including a one-year grace period, significantly mitigating the risk of default and financial pressure associated with short-term repayments. The loan interest rate is set at CD (91-day) + 1.30%, and an interest rate cap has been established to mitigate risks associated with future fluctuations in market interest rates.

Furthermore, by providing support for a transition to a "100% full guarantee" method regardless of the existing guarantee ratio, marginal small business owners facing limited access to the financial sector are now given the opportunity to stably improve their debt structures.

Gwangju Bank expects that this financial support will significantly reduce financial costs for local small business owners facing liquidity shortages, while further enhancing the effectiveness of community-oriented inclusive finance through close cooperation with the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation. Jeong Il-seon, President of Gwangju Bank, emphasized, “This agreement was established to provide practical and tangible relief to local small business owners who are enduring a harsh period due to persistently high interest rates and increasing economic volatility,” adding, “Going forward, Gwangju Bank will fulfill its responsibilities as the region’s leading financial institution and continuously expand systematic financial support measures for the business stability and resurgence of small business owners.”
