브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 렛츠런파크 영천(영천경마공원)이 후보지 선정 이후 17년 만에 완공돼 운영을 시작한다.
한국마사회는 오는 11일 관람시설 개방과 함께 영업을 개시하고, 13일 개장기념 행사를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
서울, 제주, 부산경남에 이어 국내 4번째로 개장하는 렛츠런파크 영천은 영남권에 위치한 말산업 및 복합 레저 시설이다.
영천은 2009년 운주산승마조련센터 개장, 2015년 내륙 말산업 특구 지정에 이어, 이번 경마공원 개장으로 생산·조련·복지·경주·관광으로 이어지는 말산업 주기 체계를 갖추게 됐다.
국내 최초로 ‘권역형 순회경마’가 도입된다. 경주마 자원은 부산경남에 상주하고, 경마일마다 영천으로 이동해 경주를 치르는 방식이다. 9월에는 영천에서 12개 경주가 열리며, 하반기 12주 동안 총 72개 경주가 시행된다.
경주마 복지와 관련해서는 국제경마연맹의 ‘말 수송 복지 가이드라인’을 반영한 13.5톤 무진동 전용 수송 차량 13대가 도입됐다. 해당 차량에는 시스템 에어컨, 가변형 칸막이, 부상 방지용 특수 고무 바닥재, 실시간 GPS 추적 및 클래식 음악 송출 장치가 적용됐다.
시설 면에서는 관람대가 지하 1층, 지상 4층 규모로 3500명을 수용할 수 있으며, 한옥 모티브의 계단식 디자인으로 지어졌다. 경주로 안쪽에는 친환경 수변공원이 조성됐고, 주차장에는 태양광 가림막이 설치됐다.
마사회는 구매 상한 등 현행 건전화 제도를 가동하고, 미니호스 프로그램 및 계절별 가족 행사 등 말 테마 체험 콘텐츠를 운영할 계획이다.
우희종 한국마사회 회장은 “렛츠런파크 영천은 서울, 제주, 부산경남에 이어 4번째로 탄생한 경마공원이자, 단순한 경마 시설을 넘어 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣는 신성장 동력이 될 것”이라며 “영천시민의 자부심이 되고 지역의 어려움을 함께 나누는 가장 따뜻한 상생 랜드마크를 만들겠다”고 말했다.
