국민의힘 이인선(대구 수성구을) 국회의원은 이번 경북대 탈락과 관련해 “평가위원 구성과 대학별 세부 평가 결과, 선정 근거를 공개하고, 국회 교육위원회 차원에서 선정 과정 전반을 반드시 검증하겠다”고 밝혔다.
교육부는 국가 거점 국립대의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 성장엔진 분야 브랜드 단과대, 융합연구원, AI 거점대학, 5극3특 공유대학 등을 묶은 패키지 형태로 대학을 지원할 계획이다. 선정된 대학에는 학교당 연간 약 700억 원 규모의 재정이 투입된다.
이번 대학 선정에는 정부 부처 관계자들과 외부 전문가들로 구성된 실무위원회가 참여해, 대학별 지역 여건, 준비도, 정부 정책과의 정합성 등을 종합적으로 평가한 것으로 전해진다.
하지만 이 의원은 “평가의 전문성과 공정성에 큰 의문이 든다”며 불만을 표시했다. 그는 “경북대가 제외된 데 대해 깊은 유감과 분노를 느낀다. 국가대표 거점 국립대학을 선정하는 사업인 만큼 교육·연구에 대한 전문적이고 객관적인 평가가 전제돼야 한다”고 주장했다.

또 이 의원은 앞서 진행된 글로컬대학 사업 평가에서 경북대가 B등급으로 상대적으로 높은 점수를 받았다는 점을 들어, 이번 탈락 사유에 대한 명확한 설명을 요구했다. 그는 “글로컬대학 사업 평가에선 경북대가 높은 평가를 받았지만 이번에는 결과가 뒤집혔다”며 “대학별 세부 평가 결과와 선정 근거를 국민 앞에 투명하게 공개하라”고 목소리를 높였다.

이 의원은 향후 국회 교육위원회를 통해 ▲평가위원 구성 ▲대학별 세부 평가 결과 ▲선정 근거뿐만 아니라 선정 대학의 사업계획, 예산 집행, 성과까지 전 과정을 낱낱이 들여다볼 계획임을 강조했다.
