Hyundai Department Store conducts eco-friendly campaign ‘365 Recycle - Finding Hidden Resources’

Hyundai Department Store is embarking on an eco-friendly initiative to collect and recycle discarded home appliances and small resources left unused in households.

Hyundai Department Store announced on the 28th that it will be conducting the "365 Recycle - Finding Hidden Resources" campaign at its stores nationwide, including the Apgujeong Main Branch, until the 3rd of next month.

This campaign targets the collection of cables (wires), chargers (adapters), and power strips that are left unused or broken in homes. After undergoing a sorting process, these items will be recycled into metals and plastics.

Regardless of the item type, individuals can donate up to three items. Participating customers will receive 2,000 H Points—the Hyundai Department Store Group's integrated membership points—for each collected item, allowing them to earn up to 6,000 H Points.

In particular, this campaign plans to go beyond simple collection to measure and share the environmental impact generated during the actual recycling process with customers. To this end, it will collaborate with relevant organizations, such as the Korea Climate and Environment Network and e-Circulation Governance, to quantitatively analyze greenhouse gas reduction effects and resource circulation performance.

Yang Myeong-seong, Executive Director of Sales Strategy at Hyundai Department Store, stated, “To elicit voluntary customer participation as an eco-friendly practice platform, it is crucial to build consensus and create a sustainable culture together.” He added, “We plan to continuously introduce various carbon neutrality activities that reflect customer lifestyles and allow anyone to participate easily and conveniently.”

Meanwhile, ‘365 Recycle’ is the industry’s only customer-participatory eco-friendly campaign that accepts donations of items no longer in use from customers at any time. Hyundai Department Store has been conducting various resource circulation activities every month, such as producing padded vests by recycling filling from winter down jackets and donating them to vulnerable groups, and upcycling plastic toys into book stands.
