Noh Dong-jin, Chairman of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (NFFC), Visits Flood-Damaged Fishing Houses in Geoje to Inspect Recovery Efforts

Noh Dong-jin, Chairman of the NFFC, visited fishing households in the Geoje region of South Gyeongsang Province that were damaged by torrential rains to inspect the progress of recovery efforts and listen to the concerns of the fishermen.

The NFFC announced on the 28th that Chairman Noh visited a fish hatchery in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, on the 27th to inspect the flood damage and listened to the support needed for business recovery and on-site difficulties from the fishermen.

At the site, Chairman Noh stated, "We will make every effort to ensure that fishermen in South Gyeongsang Province, who have suffered property damage from torrential rains following high water temperatures, can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."

Chairman Noh also ordered employees to respond at a company-wide level to ensure the recovery support measures prepared by the NFFC are implemented promptly.

According to the NFFC's own internal tally, the torrential rains caused damage to fisheries-related facilities and fishing households in the South Gyeongsang region, including the sinking of fishing vessels and the inflow of sediment into land-based aquaculture farms. In the Geoje, Tongyeong, and Hadong County Fisheries Cooperatives, some branches and tax-exempt fuel stations were flooded, and restoration work is currently underway.

Previously, the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, together with Suhyup Bank, prepared emergency financial support measures worth up to 50 billion won for fishermen affected by the heavy rains and is continuing to investigate the damage sites.
