브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 안규백 국방부 장관은 20일 북한의 핵무기 보유 규모에 대해 “보통 80~120개 정도로 보고 있다”고 밝혔다.
안 장관은 이날 국회 국방위원회 전체회의에서 성일종 국민의힘 의원이 ‘우리 정부는 북한이 몇 개 정도의 핵무기를 개발한 것으로 평가하느냐’고 묻자 “정확한 수치를 말하기는 상당히 제한적”이라면서 이같이 답했다.
또한 북한의 핵 보유를 한국 정부가 공식적으로 인정하느냐는 질문에도 선을 그었다. 안 장관은 “공식적으로 인정할 수 없다”며 “저는 미국이 비핵화를 포기하지는 않은 것으로 보고 있다”고 했다.
그는 앞서 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 북한이 핵무기 57개를 보유하고 있다고 발언한 데 대해서도 신중한 입장을 보였다.
안 장관은 “미국의 보수집단이나 연구기관에서 대략 57개로 발표한 것”이라며 “이를 한국 국방부 장관이 논평한다는 것은 적절하지 않은 것 같다”고 말했다.
안 장관은 트럼프 대통령이 북한 비핵화에 대해 명확하게 언급하지 않은 배경에 대해서는 “화전양면(和戰兩面) 작전을 구사하려고 그렇게 하지 않았나”라고 평가했다.
