대한민국 탐정제도의 발전과 탐정업의 공공성 및 전문성 강화를 위한 제7회 ‘탐정의 날’ 기념식 및 학술발표회가 지난 5일 동국대학교 법무대학원 법학관에서 성황리에 개최됐다.
이번 행사는 동국대학교 법무대학원과 대한민국공인탐정협회가 주최하고, 경찰청 사단법인 대한공인탐정연구협회·한국공인탐정협회·대한탐정사회 등 관련 협회가 공동 주관했으며, 임규철 동국대법무대학원장, 강동욱 대한탐정사회회장, 백기종 대한공인탐정연구원장 등 탐정 관련 기관·단체 관계자와 학계·업계 인사와 국내외 내·외빈이 참석해 탐정제도의 발전 방향과 법제화 필요성 등에 대해 의견을 나눴다.

‘탐정의 날’은 지난 2020년 8월 5일 개정된 「신용정보의 이용 및 보호에 관한 법률」이 시행되면서 ‘탐정’이라는 명칭을 합법적으로 사용할 수 있게 된 것을 기념하기 위해 대한민국공인탐정협회 하금석 회장이 선포한 날이다.
이날 학술발표회에서는 탐정업 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 실무 사례와 법적 기준 등이 소개됐다.

이상민 한국공인탐정협회 부회장은 ‘탐정 활동 사례’를 주제로 실제 현장에서 수행한 다양한 사례를 공유했으며, 정동일 변호사는 ‘탐정업 스토킹처벌법 대처방안’을 주제로 탐정들이 업무를 수행하는 과정에서 준수해야 할 법적 기준과 구체적인 대응 방안을 제시했다.
기념식에서는 대한민국 탐정제도 발전과 각종 사건·사고 조사 등을 통해 사회 공익에 기여한 유공자들을 대상으로 ‘2026 대한민국 탐정을 빛낸 인물 대상’ 시상식도 진행됐다.

또한 대한민국 탐정제도 발전에 기여한 김흥태 JM신용정보 이사에게 감사패가 수여됐으며, 행사의 성공적인 개최를 위해 노력한 남현우 동국대학교 PIA최고위과정 총동문회장에게는 공로패가 전달됐다.
강영규 경찰청 사단법인 대한공인탐정연구협회장은 대회장으로서 환영사를 통해 탐정업의 올바른 발전과 제도적 조기 정착을 기원했다.
하금석 대한민국공인탐정협회 회장은 인사말에서 탐정업 종사자들의 권익 보호와 의뢰인의 안전을 위해 관련 법률 제정이 필요하다고 강조했다.
하 회장은 “탐정업 종사자들의 권익을 보호하고 의뢰인을 안전하게 지키기 위해 ‘탐정업 등록 및 이용자 보호에 관한 법률’의 조속한 제정이 매우 시급하다”고 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 세계공인탐정연맹(W.A.D.)과 아시아공인탐정연맹(A.F.C.D.) 일본연맹 대표를 맡고 있는 야마다 사토시 대표를 비롯한 해외 인사들도 참석해 탐정제도의 발전과 국제적 협력에 대한 축하와 격려의 메시지를 전했다.
대한민국공인탐정협회와 경찰청 사단법인 대한공인탐정연구협회는 그동안 경찰청 및 국회 등과 소통하며 국내 탐정제도의 법제화와 탐정업의 제도적 기반 마련을 위해 활동해 왔다.
양 단체는 현재까지 1만 명 이상의 명탐정 및 PIA 탐정사를 배출하고 각 전문 분야에서 활동할 수 있도록 전문성 강화에도 힘써왔다.
