VD(Visual Display)

Samsung Electronics Hits ‘Semiconductor Jackpot’ with Q2 Operating Profit of 89.5 Trillion Won, All-Time High

Samsung Electronics announced on the 30th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 171.5 trillion won and an operating profit of 89.5 trillion won in the second quarter of 2026. This marks the highest quarterly revenue and operating profit in the company's history.

Compared to the previous quarter, revenue surged by 28% (37.6 trillion won) and operating profit by 56% (32.3 trillion won). Compared to the same period last year, revenue skyrocketed by 130% and operating profit by 1,813.8%.

Earnings per share stood at 10,849 won for both common and preferred shares, a 52% increase from the previous quarter and the highest level among global tech companies.

The semiconductor business led these record-breaking performances. The DS Division, responsible for semiconductors, recorded revenue of 127.5 trillion won and an operating profit of 89.2 trillion won, overwhelmingly driving the company's overall performance. The memory business set new record sales for both DRAM and NAND as demand for server products surged due to the spread of Agentic AI. In particular, the company solidified its technological leadership by expanding HBM4 supply and successfully shipping the industry's first HBM4E samples.

The System LSI division achieved its highest-ever revenue in the first half of the year driven by increased sales of mobile SoCs and sensors, while the foundry business also saw significant performance improvements thanks to increased demand for HBM-based dies and customers in the Americas.

However, the DX division, which encompasses both consumer electronics and mobile, recorded revenue of 48 trillion won and an operating loss of 800 billion won.

Looking at specific business segments, the MX (Mobile eXperience) division saw revenue growth year-over-year driven by strong sales of flagship models such as the Galaxy S26 series and the A series; however, operating profit declined as cost burdens across the industry increased due to rising component costs. The Visual Display (VD) division improved both revenue and profitability year-over-year by proactively responding to demand from major sports events and launching products in new categories. The Network division also saw improved performance compared to the previous year and quarter, driven by rising overseas sales. While the Home Appliance division saw revenue growth compared to the previous quarter due to the peak season for air conditioners, profits declined due to increased cost burdens.

The Harman and Display divisions also maintained a solid performance. Harman recorded revenue of 4.6 trillion won and an operating profit of 400 billion won, bolstered by expanded sales in the automotive electronics business and strong sales of personal audio products, including portable devices.

The Display division achieved revenue of 7.5 trillion won and an operating profit of 700 billion won. Performance in the small and medium-sized segment improved compared to the previous quarter due to robust demand for high-end mobile products, while the large-sized segment saw increased sales volume and revenue driven by the expansion of the gaming monitor market.
