브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 제9회 전국동시지방선거 개표가 막바지에 접어든 가운데 더불어민주당이 광역단체장 선거에서 압도적인 우위를 점하며 지방권력 장악에 성공했다.
4일 중앙선거관리위원회 선거통계시스템에 따르면 오전 9시 42분 기준 개표율 99.48% 상황에서 민주당은 광역단체장 선거 16곳 중 부산, 인천, 대전, 울산, 세종, 경기, 강원, 충북, 충남, 전북, 전남, 광주 등 12곳에서 승리를 확정했다.
국민의힘은 대구와 경북, 경남 3곳에서 당선을 확정했다. 서울은 개표가 마무리되지 않은 가운데 오세훈 국민의힘 후보가 역전에 성공하며 초접전 양상을 보이고 있다.
서울시장 선거에서는 정원오 민주당 후보가 개표 초반부터 줄곧 앞섰지만 개표율 93.9%를 넘긴 시점에서 오세훈 국민의힘 후보에게 역전을 허용했다. 오전 9시 42분 기준 오 후보는 48.94%를 기록하며 정원오 후보(48.34%)를 0.6%포인트 앞서고 있다.
현재 순위가 유지될 경우 광역단체장 선거 최종 성적은 민주당 12곳, 국민의힘 4곳이 될 전망이다.
한편, 민주당은 지난 2022년 제8회 전국동시지방선거에서 전국 17개 광역단체장 가운데 광주·전남·전북·경기·제주 등 5곳만 확보했던 것과 비교해보면, 4년 만에 지방권력 지형도가 대폭 바뀌며 이재명 정권에 힘을 실리는 모양새다.
