【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=국민의힘 서재원 경북도의원 공천자가 6일 포항 남구 해도동 선거사무소에서 개소식을 열고 본격적인 선거전에 돌입했다. 이날 행사에는 경북도·포항시의원 출마자들과 당원, 지역 주민 등 1천여 명의 지지자들이 참석해 선거사무소를 가득 메웠다.
서 공천자는 이날 인사말에서 “4년 전 도의원 도전에 실패했지만, 다시 국민의힘 공천자로 설 수 있었던 것은 시민과 당원들의 성원 덕분”이라며 “그 기대를 잊지 않고 반드시 보답하겠다”고 말했다.
그는 이번 지방선거를 “포항의 화합과 통합, 미래를 여는 선거”로 규정하며 “오늘 개소식이 지역 갈등을 넘어 새로운 희망의 영일만 시대를 여는 출발점이 되길 바란다”고 강조했다.

이어 “5선 시의원과 시의회 의장을 지내며 쌓은 경험을 포항의 위기 극복과 지역 통합에 쏟겠다”며 “포항인의 도전정신으로 반드시 승리해 시민의 자존심과 지역 발전을 이끌겠다”고 밝혔다.
서 공천자는 향후 의정 방향으로 ‘삼민정치’를 제시했다. 그는 “민심을 받드는 정치, 민생을 세밀히 챙기는 정치, 민안을 따뜻하게 살피는 정치를 실천하겠다”며 “말보다 행동과 성과로 평가받겠다”고 말했다.
또 지역별 발전 구상도 함께 내놨다. 해도동은 상생형 신도심으로, 송도동은 낭만과 관광 중심지로, 청림동은 활력 있는 산업 거점으로 육성하겠다고 밝혔다. 이와 함께 구룡포는 세계와 연결되는 수산도시로, 동해면은 해양관광 중심지로, 장기면과 호미곶은 역사·해양문화 거점으로 발전시키겠다는 청사진도 제시했다.
서 공천자는 “포항의 명예와 자존심을 바로 세우고 미래를 여는 데 모든 역량을 쏟겠다”며 “결심하고 행동하는 시민들과 함께 새로운 포항을 만들겠다”고 말했다.

Nominee Seo presented “Three-Min Politics” as his future legislative direction. He stated, “I will practice politics that upholds the will of the people, politics that meticulously attends to the people’s livelihoods, and politics that warmly looks after the people’s concerns,” adding, “I will be judged by my actions and results, not my words.”
He also unveiled plans for regional development. He announced plans to foster Haedo-dong into a mutually beneficial new city center, Songdo-dong into a center of romance and tourism, and Cheongnim-dong into a vibrant industrial hub. Along with this, he presented a blueprint to develop Guryongpo into a fisheries city connected to the world, Donghae-myeon into a marine tourism center, and Janggi-myeon and Homigot into historical and marine cultural hubs.
Nominee Seo said, “I will devote all my capabilities to restoring Pohang’s honor and pride and opening up the future,” adding, “I will build a new Pohang together with citizens who are determined and take action.”
