최근 아산시는 삼성전자 온양사업장 내에 지상 9층, 연면적 14만 2,678㎡ 규모의 첨단 패키징 생산시설을 신설하기 위한 인허가 사전 실무 협의에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.
아산시는 구체적인 건축 계획과 투자 규모가 논의됨에 따라 사실상 투자 실행의 9부 능선을 넘은 것으로 판단하고 있다.
이번 투자의 핵심은 온양사업장의 체질 개선이다.
기존 테스트 공정 위주였던 사업장에 고대역폭 메모리(HBM) 등 AI 반도체 생산에 필수적인 첨단 패키징 라인이 구축되면, 아산시는 전 세계 반도체 공급망의 핵심 생산기지로 급부상하게 된다. 업계에서는 향후 투자 규모가 수조 원대에 달할 것으로 내다보고 있다.
삼성전자가 아산시에 납부하는 지방세는 2024년 대비 올해 약 4배 수준으로 급증할 것으로 보이며, 시설 투자 자금 역시 같은 기간 3배 이상 확대될 전망이다.
