【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=iM뱅크가 핑거, 밸리데이터와 협력해 국내 최초로 은행이 주도하는 원화 스테이블코인 생태계 구축을 위한 공동 기술검증(PoC)에 돌입했다.
이번 PoC의 핵심은 은행 지급준비금과 블록체인 기반 원화 스테이블코인을 연계해 신뢰성과 규제 적합성을 동시에 갖춘 모델을 검증하는 데 있다.
해외에서는 이미 달러와 유로 기반 스테이블코인이 결제, 해외송금 등으로 빠르게 확산되고 있지만, 원화를 기반으로 한 스테이블코인 시장은 아직 초기 단계에 머물러 있다.
검증 과제는 총 세 가지로 정리된다. 우선 은행 지급준비금과 블록체인 상의 발행량을 실시간으로 대조하는 ‘Proof of Reserve’ 체계를 구축한다. 이를 통해 예치금과 토큰 유통량이 일치하는지 자동 점검하며, 이상이 감지되면 즉각 경보와 보정 프로세스가 작동하도록 했다.
두 번째로는 글로벌 표준 구조를 반영한 스마트컨트랙트 개발이 과제다. 토큰 발행이나 소각, 이체뿐 아니라 비상 정지, 업그레이드 기능까지 포함해 안정성과 감사 가능성을 높이겠다는 방침이다.
마지막으로, 국내 최초로 양자내성암호(PQC)를 적용한 아키텍처 검증에 나선다. 앞으로 양자컴퓨터의 등장으로 기존 공개키 암호체계가 위협받을 수 있다는 점을 고려해, 키 관리, 전자서명, 검증 시스템 등 전반에 PQC 적용 가능성을 실험한다.
업체별 역할도 뚜렷하다. iM뱅크는 지급준비금 수탁과 은행 원장 연동, 규제 정합성을 맡았으며, 핑거는 기존 금융시스템과 블록체인을 연결하는 API와 디지털뱅킹 인프라를 담당한다. 밸리데이터는 스테이블코인 발행·유통 기술과 운영 구조 설계를 맡는다.

iM Bank has partnered with Finger and Validator to launch a joint Proof of Concept (PoC) to establish Korea's first bank-led Korean Won stablecoin ecosystem.
The core of this PoC lies in verifying a model that simultaneously possesses reliability and regulatory compliance by linking bank reserves with a blockchain-based Korean Won stablecoin.
While dollar and euro-based stablecoins are already rapidly spreading overseas for payments and international remittances, the market for Korean Won-based stablecoins remains in its early stages.
The verification tasks are summarized into three main points. First, a "Proof of Reserve" system will be established to cross-reference bank reserves with the issuance volume on the blockchain in real time. This will automatically check whether deposits and circulating tokens match, and if an anomaly is detected, an immediate alert and correction process will be triggered.
Second, the task involves developing smart contracts that reflect global standard structures. The plan is to enhance stability and auditability by including not only token issuance, burning, and transfers, but also emergency stop and upgrade functions. Finally, the project will proceed with the verification of an architecture applying Quantum-Free Cryptography (PQC) for the first time in Korea. Considering that the emergence of quantum computers could threaten existing public-key cryptography systems, the project will test the feasibility of applying PQC across key management, digital signatures, and verification systems.
The roles of each company are also distinct. iM Bank is responsible for reserve custody, integration with bank ledgers, and regulatory compliance, while Finger handles APIs connecting existing financial systems with blockchain and digital banking infrastructure. Validator is responsible for stablecoin issuance and distribution technology, as well as the design of the operational structure.
