유한재단이 미래 학문과 산업을 이끌어갈 대학원 연구 인재들을 선발해 전폭적인 지원에 나섰다.
유한재단(이사장 원희목)은 28일 서울 동작구 유한양행 본사 4층 연수실에서 ‘2026년 제3회 유일한 장학금 수여식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
‘유일한 장학금’은 대학원 석·박사 과정에서 학업과 연구에 전념하는 인재들이 안정적인 환경에서 학문적 성과를 이어갈 수 있도록 지원하기 위해 지난 2024년 신설된 프로그램이다. 단순히 학비를 지원하는 수준을 넘어, 연구 몰입 환경을 조성해 우수 인재를 육성하는 데 목적을 두고 있다.
올해 장학금 수혜자는 전국 43개 대학에서 선발된 147명이다. 특히 올해는 전체 장학생 중 약 25%에 해당하는 36명을 외국인 유학생으로 선발하고, 다문화 가정 학생을 함께 포함함으로써 장학사업의 포용성과 국제적 확장성을 동시에 확보했다는 평가를 받는다.
이날 수여식에는 유한재단 원희목 이사장을 비롯해 유한학원 최상후 이사장, 유한양행 조욱제 대표이사 등 주요 인사들이 대거 참석해 선발된 장학생들을 축하하고 격려했다.
원희목 이사장은 인사말을 통해 “유일한 장학금은 단순한 경제적 지원을 넘어, 더 큰 꿈을 향해 나아가는 든든한 디딤돌이 되어야 한다”며 “장학생 여러분이 학문적 성취를 이루는 데 그치지 않고, 사회에 기여하는 책임 있는 인재로 성장해 주기를 기대한다”고 강조했다. 이어 “설립자 유일한 박사의 정신을 계승해 각자의 자리에서 사회에 환원하는 삶을 실천하며 선한 영향력을 이어가 주길 바란다”고 당부했다.
유한재단은 독립운동가이자 기업가, 교육가였던 故 유일한 박사의 뜻을 기려 1970년 설립된 이후 장학사업을 중심으로 인재 양성과 사회공헌 활동을 지속해오고 있다. 현재까지 장학금 누적 수혜 인원은 연인원 약 1만 명에 달하며, 지원 규모 역시 꾸준히 확대되는 추세다.
재단 관계자는 “앞으로도 경제적 여건과 관계없이 학생들이 학업과 연구에만 전념할 수 있는 환경을 조성할 것”이라며 “다양성과 포용성을 기반으로 한 인재 양성을 통해 사회 전반에 긍정적인 변화를 만들어갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

The Yuhan Foundation (Chairman Won Hee-mok) announced that it held the "2026 3rd Yuhan Scholarship Award Ceremony" on the 28th at the training room on the 4th floor of the Yuhan Corporation headquarters in Dongjak-gu, Seoul.
The "Yuhan Scholarship" is a program established in 2024 to support talented individuals in master's and doctoral programs who are dedicated to their studies and research, enabling them to continue their academic achievements in a stable environment. Its purpose goes beyond simply providing tuition support to fostering outstanding talent by creating an environment where students can immerse themselves in research.
This year, 147 scholarship recipients were selected from 43 universities nationwide. Notably, this year is recognized for simultaneously securing the inclusiveness and international expansion of the scholarship program by selecting 36 international students—accounting for approximately 25% of the total recipients—and including students from multicultural families. A large number of key figures, including Yuhan Foundation Chairman Won Hee-mok, Yuhan Academy Chairman Choi Sang-hoo, and Yuhan Corporation CEO Cho Wook-je, attended the awards ceremony to congratulate and encourage the selected scholarship recipients.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Won Hee-mok emphasized, “The Yuhan Scholarship must go beyond mere financial support and serve as a solid stepping stone for students to advance toward bigger dreams.” He added, “I hope that you scholarship recipients will not stop at achieving academic success but grow into responsible individuals who contribute to society.” He further urged the recipients to “carry on the spirit of the founder, Dr. Yu Il-han, practice a life of giving back to society in your respective fields, and continue to spread positive influence.”
Since its establishment in 1970 to honor the legacy of the late Dr. Yu Il-han—an independence activist, entrepreneur, and educator—the Yuhan Foundation has continuously engaged in talent development and social contribution activities centered on scholarship programs. To date, the cumulative number of scholarship recipients has reached approximately 10,000, and the scale of support continues to expand steadily.
A foundation official stated, “We will continue to create an environment where students can devote themselves solely to their studies and research regardless of their economic circumstances,” adding, “We plan to bring about positive change throughout society by fostering talent based on diversity and inclusion.”
