서울시장 선거의 구도가 또렷해지고 있다. 더불어민주당의 정원오와 현직 시장 오세훈(국민의힘 소속)의 맞대결 가능성이 커지면서, 이번 선거는 단순한 인물 경쟁을 넘어 서울의 미래와 권력 지형을 가르는 승부로 번지고 있다.
겉으로는 ‘행정 경험이 풍부한 두 인물의 대결’이다. 그러나 본질은 다르다. 정원오는 상승세를 타고 있는 실무형 행정가이고, 오세훈은 체급과 경험을 앞세운 안정형 정치인이다. 문제는 지금 서울의 민심이 안정이 아니라 변화 쪽으로 기울고 있다는 점이다.

정원오는 성동구청장 3선을 거치며 ‘성과로 증명하는 정치’를 보여줬다. 현장에서 답을 찾는 행정가 이미지에 더해, 중앙정부와의 정책 연계 가능성까지 확보하며 ‘속도감 있는 서울’이라는 기대를 키우고 있다. 반면 오세훈은 여전히 강력한 경쟁자지만, 보수 핵심 지지층과의 거리감, 당내 신뢰의 균열, 그리고 차갑고 거리감 있는 리더십이라는 약점을 동시에 안고 있다. 안정이 아니라 안주라는 비판이 나오는 이유다.
이런 상황에서 정원오가 던질 수 있는 가장 강력한 승부수가 바로 ‘한강 AI·로봇·친환경·탄소중립형 돔구장’, 이른바 ‘한강 AI 돔’이다. 이 공약은 단순한 체육시설이 아니다. 축구 경기와 K-콘텐츠 공연, 국제 예술행사, 글로벌 컨벤션을 결합한 복합 플랫폼이자, 인공지능과 로봇, 에너지 자립 기술이 결합된 미래형 도시 인프라다.
이 프로젝트의 성패는 단 하나, 돈의 구조에 달려 있다. 세금으로 짓는 순간 ‘미래 인프라’는 ‘대형 토건 사업’으로 전락한다. 따라서 핵심은 민간 투자다. 글로벌 투자자본, 국내 대기업 컨소시엄, 장기 운영권, 네이밍 권리까지 결합한 수익 구조가 설계되어야 한다. 스스로 돈을 벌어들이는 구조가 아니라면 이 공약은 설득력을 잃는다.

The problem is that public sentiment in Seoul is currently leaning toward change rather than stability.
Having served three terms as the Mayor of Seongdong-gu, Jeong Won-oh has demonstrated "politics proven by results." Adding to his image as an administrator who finds answers on the ground, he has also secured the possibility of policy coordination with the central government, raising expectations for a "Seoul with speed." On the other hand, while Oh Se-hoon remains a formidable competitor, he simultaneously faces weaknesses such as a distance from the core conservative base, a rift in trust within the party, and a cold, detached leadership style.
