전쟁이 없었던 시대가 없었으니 현실에서 전쟁이 이상한 일은 아니다. 그러나 전쟁을 장난치듯 한 경우는 트럼프 외에는 없었다. 이 사람이 사람인지 의문이다. 만약 트럼프가 이란이 말을 듣지 않는다는 이유로 예고된 공격을 실행한다면 다음과 같은 일이 일어날 것이다.
1. 트럼프는 전범으로 기소될 것이다. 현실적으로 지금 기소할 수 없다면 대통령직에서 물러난 후에 기소할 것이고 평생 감옥에서 썩어야 한다는 요구에 직면할 것이다.
2. 미국은 이란을 불법적으로 공격한 전쟁범죄에 대하여 사과하고 피해액 전부를 배상하고 복구를 지원해야 할 것이다. 지금 하지 않으면 나중에라도 하게 될 것이다.

4. 미국 안에서 트럼프에 반대하는 흐름이 확산될 것이다. 당장 예측할 수는 없지만 내일 이란 공격 명령이 온전히 이행될지도 의문이다. 설령 명령이 이행된다고 해도 충성의 강도는 현저히 낮아질 것이다. 내부로부터 무너지기 시작하는 것이다.
5. 당연한 일이지만 미국의 세계적 수준의 지위와 역할이 급전직하 추락할 것이고 세계의 경찰이라는 이미지도 사라질 것이다. 트럼프는 이미 지금도 세계의 폭군, 세계의 깡패가 되었다. 미국 안에서의 No Kings 시위가 이를 반영한다. 이런 상황에서 미국 민주당이 제 역할을 못하는 것이 다소 유감이다.
