(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=광주은행이 중앙아시아 금융시장 공략을 위해 우즈베키스탄의 디지털 상업은행인 ‘하욧뱅크(JSC Hayot Bank)’와 손을 잡았다.
광주은행은 지난 4일 하욧뱅크와 ‘중앙아시아 금융시장 진출 기반 마련 및 상호 금융시장 이해 증진을 위한 전략적 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 광주은행의 글로벌 네트워크 확장 전략의 핵심으로, 베트남 증권사(JBSV) 운영을 통해 쌓아온 디지털 금융 역량을 중앙아시아 신흥 시장으로 확장하겠다는 의지가 담겼다. 특히 빠른 디지털 전환이 이뤄지고 있는 우즈베키스탄을 전략적 교두보로 삼아 글로벌 금융 영토를 넓히겠다는 복안이다.
양 기관은 이번 협약을 통해 ▲양국 거주 외국인 대상 금융서비스 협력 ▲K-금융 기반 디지털뱅킹 기술 자문 ▲우즈베키스탄 금융시장 공동 조사 ▲이슬람 금융 분야 자문 등 다방면에서 긴밀한 협력 체계를 구축하기로 합의했다.
광주은행이 이번 협약에 주목하는 이유는 국내 체류 우즈베키스탄인의 비중이다. 현재 국내 체류 외국인 중 우즈베키스탄 국적자는 약 9만 5천 명으로, 세 번째로 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 광주은행은 이를 바탕으로 국내 거주 우즈베키스탄인을 위한 맞춤형 금융상품과 특화 서비스를 고도화하고, 해외 네트워크와 연계한 금융 지원 모델을 구체화할 계획이다.
