가평군은 지난 12일 공무원과 유관기관, 군부대 장병, 사회단체 회원 등 1,000여 명이 참여한 가운데 관내 6개 읍·면 전역에서 ‘우리동네 새단장 대청소’를 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 대청소는 행정안전부 주관 캠페인의 일환으로, 참가자들은 이날 주요 시가지와 관광지, 하천변, 등산로 등 평소 손길이 닿기 어려운 곳까지 구석구석 누비며 묵은 쓰레기를 수거하고 재활용품을 분리했다.

특히 설 연휴 기간 유동 인구가 집중될 것으로 예상되는 전통시장과 터미널, 공공시설 주변을 집중적으로 정비해 방문객들이 ‘청정 가평’의 이미지를 체감할 수 있도록 했다.
가평군 관계자는 “추운 날씨에도 불구하고 내 고장을 가꾸기 위해 발 벗고 나서준 주민과 국군 장병 여러분께 감사드린다”며 “앞으로도 주민들이 주도하는 환경 개선 문화를 정착시켜 깨끗하고 살기 좋은 가평을 만들어 가겠다”고 전했다.
