Yangju City Recruits Students for Bodam School, an Adult Education Accreditation Program: "It's Never Too Late to Learn"
Providing Educational Opportunities to Low-Educated and Illiterate Adults Who Missed Out on Formal Education... Designated Institution for Elementary Education Accreditation Literacy Education
[Break News Yangju=Kim Wan-young] Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, is accepting applications for literacy education programs offered through Bodam School, Level 3 (Graduation Program) and Level 1 (Middle School). This program is open until March 13th.
Since being designated as a designated institution for elementary education literacy education in 2018, Yangju City has consistently focused on providing literacy education to adult learners. To provide educational opportunities to low-educated and illiterate adults who missed out on formal education, the city has been committed to providing literacy education to adult learners.
This year, unlike previous programs that only offered elementary education accreditation, the city has applied for designation for the "Middle School Level 1" accreditation program, which will be designated as a new program on December 31, 2025. This allows for more systematic literacy education with academic accreditation.
Furthermore, the city is continuously recruiting students for the "Hangul Class," a program separate from the academic literacy education program, for learners who wish to learn Hangul.
In 2026, Yangju City's Hangul Classes will be held at five locations: Deokgye Lifelong Learning Center, Hoecheon Senior Welfare Center, Okjeong Community Welfare Center, Bongam Community Welfare Center, and Yangju 1-dong Lifelong Learning Center.
The Hangul Class at the Yangju 1-dong Lifelong Learning Center is scheduled to open in May 2026, in line with the relocation schedule for the Administrative Welfare Center's new multi-purpose building.
Meanwhile, Yangju City also holds graduation ceremonies to encourage students who complete the academic literacy program. On February 5th, a graduation ceremony was held to award certificates of academic accreditation to 11 students who completed the 2025 elementary school literacy education program.
The event was a meaningful opportunity to share the fruits of their learning, with some classmates even shedding tears at the graduating class's remarks.
A Yangju City official stated, "It's never too late to learn, so if you're a citizen in need of basic literacy education, please don't hesitate to apply for the Adult Literacy Class."
