<브레이크뉴스 평창 = 이건문 기자> 평창군 알펜시아 리조트 설원이 꿈나무 스키어들의 열기로 달아올랐다.
평창군은 11일 '제53회 평창군수배 학생스키대회'가 알펜시아 리조트에서 개막해 순조로운 진행을 보이고 있다고 밝혔다.
한국학생스키연맹이 주최·주관하고 평창군이 후원하는 이번 대회는 전국 각지에서 모인 초·중·고·대학부 학생 선수와 관계자 등 약 330명이 참가해 그동안 갈고닦은 기량을 겨룬다.
대회는 종목별로 일정을 나누어 진행된다. 먼저 11일부터 13일까지는 크로스컨트리 경기가 펼쳐지며, 이어 19일부터 20일까지는 알파인 스키 경기가 열릴 예정이다.
경기는 남녀 초등부, 중등부, 고등부, 대학부 등 4개 부문으로 나뉘어 진행된다. 세부 종목으로는 크로스컨트리의 경우 클래식, 프리, 스프린트 종목이, 알파인 스키는 대회전과 회전 종목이 치러진다.
평창군 관계자는 “이번 대회가 학생 선수들의 경기력 향상은 물론, 평창이 보유한 세계적인 동계스포츠 인프라의 우수성을 다시 한번 입증하는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “참가 선수들이 안전한 환경에서 최상의 기량을 발휘할 수 있도록 대회 지원에 만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 평창군은 이번 대회를 통해 청소년 스포츠 활성화와 동계스포츠 저변 확대를 도모하고, 앞으로도 다양한 대회를 적극 유치해 나갈 계획이다.
