브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 대한상공회의소가 이재명 대통령으로부터 '가짜뉴스 생산' 비판을 받은 것과 관련해 공식 사과하고 재발 방지 대책을 마련하겠다고 밝혔다.
대한상의는 7일 사과문을 내고 “보도자료 내용 중 고액자산가 유출 관련 외부 통계를 충분한 검증 없이 인용해 불필요한 혼란을 초래했다”며 “깊이 사과드린다”고 밝혔다.
대한상의는 “향후 유사 사례가 재발하지 않도록 엄중한 책임감을 바탕으로 자료 작성 단계에서 사실관계와 통계의 정확성을 보다 철저히 검증하겠다”며 “객관적으로 점검할 수 있도록 내부 검증 시스템을 보강하겠다”고 했다.
앞서 대한상의는 지난 4일 ‘상속세수 전망분석 및 납부방식 다양화 효과 연구’라는 제목의 보도자료를 배포했다. 이 자료에는 지난해 한국을 떠난 고액자산가가 2400명에 달한다면서 이는 세계에서 네 번째로 많다는 내용이 담겼다.
이에 대해 이재명 대통령은 이날 오전 엑스(X·옛 트위터)에 한 언론사 칼럼을 공유하며 “법률에 의해 설립된 공식 단체인 대한상의가 이런 일을 공개적으로 벌이다니 믿기 어렵다”고 지적했다.
이 대통령은 “사익 도모와 정부 정책 공격을 위해 가짜뉴스를 생산·유포하는 행위는 지탄받아 마땅하다”며 “정책을 판단하는 주권자인 국민의 판단을 흐리는 고의적 가짜뉴스는 민주주의의 적”이라고 강하게 비판했다.
한편 대한상의가 인용한 자료의 조사 주체는 외국의 이민 컨설팅 업체로, 마케팅을 위해 자체적으로 작성한 것으로 전해졌다. 대한상의는 이러한 조사 주체와 방식, 기준 모두 불분명한 통계 자료를 자의적으로 해석해 "상속세 때문에 부자들이 한국을 떠난다"는 왜곡된 프레임을 만들었다는 비판이다.

Meanwhile, the data cited by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry was reportedly compiled by a foreign immigration consulting firm for marketing purposes.
