청와대가 5일 "이재명 대통령이 이날 2025년 대통령과학장학생·국제과학올림피아드 수상자 등 미래 과학자들을 초청해 간담회를 갖고 과학 기술 지원 정책 등을 논의한다"고 전했다.
청와대에 따르면 이날 행사는 '도전하는 과학자, 도약하는 대한민국' 주제로 열리는 '제12회 미래 과학자와의 대화' 간담회로 대한민국 최우수 이공계 학생들 노력·성취를 격려하면서 포부·건의 사항을 청취하는 자리다.
이날 행사엔 신규 대통령 과학장학생(학부 1·3학년·대학원 석·박사과정생) 205명·국제과학올림피아드 수상자(중·고생) 35명 등 총 270여 명이 참석한다.
이 대통령은 이날 2025년 신규 대통령 과학장학생 대표 4인에게 장학 증서·메달, 국제과학올림피아드 수상자 대표 4인에게 기념패를 각각 수여한다.
또 참석 학생들에게 과학자로서의 포부를 듣고, 과학 기술 지원 정책 등 관련한 대화를 나눈다.
청와대는 "이 대통령은 학생들이 미래과학자·과학기술로 대한민국을 바꿀 주역임을 강조할 것"이라며 "세계 최초·최고를 꿈꾸며 거침없이 도전할 것을 당부 예정"이라고 전했다.
