브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 박지원 더불어민주당 의원이 정청래 대표의 조국혁신당 합당 제안에 대해 적극적인 환영과 지지 의사를 표명했다.
박 의원은 22일 자신의 사회관계망서비스(SNS)를 통해 정 대표의 합당 제안을 적극 지지한다며 조국 대표의 화답을 간곡히 기대한다고 밝혔다.
특히 박 의원 과거 조 대표가 어려움을 겪던 시절에도 조국혁신당 의원을 통해 통합 제안을 전달했다면서 당시 긍정적인 반응을 접했었다는 사실을 공개했다.
박 의원은 그러면서 "목표가 같으면 함께 걸어야 한다. 우리 모두 '친정'이 되자"고 덧붙였다. 친정은 친청와대의 줄임말로, 정 대표는 지난 19일 이재명 대통령과의 만찬 자리에서 "우린 모두 친명(친이재명), 친정(친청와대)이다"라고 말한 바 있다.
박 의원은 또한 조국 대표의 독자적인 행보를 소탐대실이라 지적하며 호랑이를 잡으려면 호랑이 굴로 들어와야 한다는 등 지속적으로 합당을 압박하는 발언을 이어왔다. 박 의원은 목표가 같으면 함께 걸어야 한다며 뭉치면 더 커지고 이익이지만 분열하면 망한다고 통합의 필요성을 거듭 강조했다.
박 의원은 마지막으로 정 대표의 결단을 한번 더 치켜세우며 조 대표를 향해 조속한 화답을 요청했다.
다만 민주당 내에선 정 대표의 기습적인 합당 제안에 대해 최고위원들의 반발이 이어지고 있는 상황이다. 일부 최고위원은 합당 추진을 뉴스를 보고서야 알았다면서 정 대표의 깜짝 제안을 질타했다.
