이재명 대통령이 21일 북한 비핵화 포기론 관련해 “모든 문제는 실용적으로 접근해야 한다”고 주장했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오전 청와대 영빈관에서 열린 2026 신년 기자회견 질의 응답에서 “북 핵물질이 반출되지 않고 대륙간탄도미사일(ICBM)을 개발 않게 하는 것도 이익”이라며 “현재 상태를 중단하는 것 역시 이익·현실”이라고 주장했다.
또 “중단만으로도 모두에게 이익이며 현 상태 중단을 전제로 일부 보상 하면서 1단계를 진행하고 협상하자”며 "그 이후 군축 협상 하고 길게는 비핵화를 향해 가자는 것”이라고 했다.
그러면서 “단기·중기·장기로 나눠 비핵화 문제에 대응하자는 방안을 정상들 만날 때마다 얘기하고 있다”며 “상대를 인정하고 쌍방이 받아들일 수 있는 모두에 도움 되는 방법을 찾아가자”고 했다.
이어 “국민 여러분 권력을 위임받아 대한민국 국정을 담당하는 한 국민, 전 세계, 북측에도 도움 되는 실용적 길을 찾자는 게 제 생각”이라며 “이를 계속 추진해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
더불어 “대전제는 나라 힘을 키우는 것”이라며 “안보·국방·외교 문제만큼은 정략적 접근을 자제하면서 힘을 모아가자”고 덧붙였다.
