스포츠산업조사는 스포츠산업 진흥법 제7조 및 통계법 제18조에 따른 국가승인통계조사로, 스포츠산업 규모와 경영 실태 현황을 파악하기 위해 2010년부터 시행하고 있는 조사다. 이번 조사는 전국 13만 1764개 기업 중 1만 4000개 표본을 대상으로 방문과 팩스, 전자우편 조사를 병행해 실시했다.
