그런데 트럼프 대통령은 이 FAFO를 백악관 SNS 계정에 포스팅했다. 그것도 흑백사진을 내 걸었다. 사진에서 뿜어나오는 메세지의 경고성이 어둠고 칙칙하다. 매우 불쾌한 외교적 경고성 메세지를 전달키 위해 의도적으로 흑백사진을 게재한 것이다. 어떤 측면에서는 불길한 느낌, 불안한 전운마저 감도는 흑백사진이다.
백악관은 도대체 누구에게 어떤 강력한 경고 메세지를 보내고 싶어서 이렇게 어두운 사진을 내걸었을까? 일단 전 세계의 반미국가, 반미세력, 베네주엘라의 마두로 지지자, 해외 마두로의 정치연합세력, 친중세력, 테러세력들에게 경고메세지를 보내기 위한 것으로 보인다. 그런데 공교롭게도 FAFO의 사진이 한국에서 찍은 것이며 그 사진의 뒷 배경이 한국이란 점에 깜짝 놀랐다. 충격성 경고문을 알리는 백악관의 그 사진이 한국에서 찍은 것이라면 FAFO의 메세지는 한국을 겨냥한 것이란 해석도 가능하다.

이를 전통적인 미국 외교의 전략적 커뮤니케이션의 관점에서 본다면, 이런 방식의 의사 표출은 없었다. 대신 외교 문서나 성명을 활용하던 것이 미국의 전통적 외교 방식이다. 그런데 트럼프는 기존의 전통적 방식을 깨고 180도 탈피했다. 대신, 트럼프 특유의 전략적 위협방식의 커뮤니케이션을 추구한다. 그것도 기존 레거시 언론이 아니라, SNS·이미지·슬랭을 활용한 심리적 압박 메세지를 강도높게 표출한다. 이는 트럼프의 미국은 과거의 미국이 아니란 의미다. 그래서 미국이 사용하는 힘의 방식도 과거의 미국과는 전혀 다르다는 점을 빨리 캐치해야 한다. 그래서 FAFO가 겨냥한 그 대상이 어느 나라이고 누구인지에 촉각을 세워야 한다.
