충남 공주시가 야구 유망주들의 축제로 자리 잡은 ‘박찬호기 전국초등학교 야구대회’를 개최하며 전국 초등 야구의 중심지로 다시 주목받고 있다.
이번 대회는 지난 10월 28일 공주시립박찬호야구장에서 막을 올려 오는 11월 9일까지 13일간 이어진다. 전국 17개 시도에서 선발된 36개 초등학교 대표팀이 참가해, 각 지역의 명예를 걸고 실력을 겨룬다.
