이번 발표는 지난달 27일 세종시 한국개발연구원(KDI)에서 열린 타당성 재조사 분과위원회 심의를 통해 이뤄졌으며, 제천~영월 고속도로 사업의 필요성과 경제적 타당성을 인정받은 결과다.
제천~영월 고속도로는 총 연장 약 29km 구간으로, 완공 시 수도권 및 강원권과의 연결성을 강화해 물류와 관광객 유입이 촉진되며, 기업 유치와 지역 소상공인 매출 증가 등 지역 경제 활성화에 기여 할 것으로 기대된다.
