이번 조직개편은 민선8기 핵심과제 추진과 효율적인 군정 운영을 위한 것으로, 현행 행정복지국·경제산업국·균형발전국 등 3개국 체제에서, 기획행정국·문화복지국·농림축산국·경제환경국·안전건설국 등 5개국 체제로 확대된다.
신설되는 문화복지국에는 문화관광과를 비롯해 체육진흥과, 평생학습과, 복지정책과, 가족행복과를, 농림축산국에는 농정과, 농촌활력과, 축산식품과, 산림녹지과가 각각 속하게 된다.
2026년 개최 예정인 제65회 충북도민체전대회 준비를 위해 도민체전추진단을 부군수 직속기관으로 신설하고 한시 운영한다.
부서 이동은 기존 부군수 직속기관인 기획감사실을 기획감사과로 변경해 기획행정국 아래 조직으로 들어가며, 시설관리사업소는 체육진흥과로 변경하고 문화복지국에 배치된다.

이어 중부내륙선 지선의 제5차 국가철도망 구축계획 반영과 대중교통체계 개편을 위해 건설교통과 교통팀을 교통행정팀과 교통지도팀으로 분리해 업무 전문성을 높이고, 음성군의회의 의정활동과 홍보를 지원하기 위한 정책홍보팀 등이 새롭게 설치된다.
이번 조직개편으로 음성군 정원은 943명에서 950명으로 정원 7명이 증원되며, 이는 정부의 공무원 인력 운영 방향에 따라 도민체전추진단의 한시정원 7명 외에 공무원 증원 없이 전원 재배치로 개편했다.
이에 따라 군은 민선8기 후반기 공약사업의 속도감 있는 추진과 2030음성시 건설의 기틀을 완성하기 위한 본격적인 준비 체계를 마쳤다.
