군은 올해 제24회 생거진천 농다리축제, 제45회 생거진천 문화축제와 더불어 올해 10회째를 맞이한 청정백곡 참숯마실축제까지 예산을 추가 배정하는 등 정성껏 준비하면서 많은 방문객의 발길을 이끌었다.
먼저 예년보다 한 달여 일찍 4월 19일부터 3일간 개최한 생거진천 농다리 축제에는 역대 최다인 8만여 명의 방문객이 찾았다.
군은 ‘판’이 바뀐 농다리 축제를 선언하며 △미르 309(제2 하늘다리) 개통 △농다리 스토리움((舊 농다리 전시관) 개관 △용고개 용 조형물 설치 △축제장 확장 등 즐길 거리를 대폭 강화해 축제 기간 내내 큰 호응을 얻었다.
당시 군은 17년 만에 진천에서 열리는 제63회 충북 도민체육대회 개최를 앞두고 있었는데 농다리축제가 지역에 관한 관심도를 붐업시키면서 축제 분위기를 도민체전까지 이어갈 수 있었다.
진천읍 백곡천 일원에서 10월 4일부터 3일간 운영한 생거진천 문화축제에는 무려 23만 명이 현장을 찾았다.
민속 경기와 씨름대회 등의 전통 프로그램과 인기 가수 공연, 청소년 댄스 경연, 농특산물 전시, 향토 음식 경연대회, 건강 박람회, 평생학습축제 등 풍성한 프로그램으로 모든 연령이 즐기는 소통의 장으로 꾸민 덕분이다.
