【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=음성군이 지속 가능한 지역 먹거리 선순환 체계 확산을 위해 추진하는 로컬푸드 정책이 안정을 찾아가고 있다.
군에 따르면, 지난 4일 농림축산식품부와 한국농수산식품유통공사(aT)에서 실시한 지역 먹거리 지수 평가에서 지난해보다 한 계단 상승한 B등급을 받았다고 밝혔다.
군은 2017년 충북 최초로 학교급식지원센터를 개소하면서 관내 33개 학교에 우수하고 안전한 식재료 납품을 위해 △학교급식 품질향상비 지원 △지역 농특산물 현물식재료 지원 △친환경 쌀 차액 지원 △지역산 농산물 공급 활성화 장려금 지원 등 무상 급식비 외 추가 군비를 지원해 로컬푸드와 학교급식을 연결하는 먹거리 정책을 추진해 왔다.
또한 군민들이 로컬푸드를 쉽게 접할 수 있도록 관내 농협 하나로마트에 로컬푸드 직매장을 설립하고 운영을 활성화할 수 있도록 지속적인 지원을 해왔다.
군의 농업 특성상 특정 과수 품목에 생산이 집중되다 보니 급식 식재료로 다양한 농산물 공급에 어려움이 있었다.
그러나 지역산 농산물 공급을 담당하는 생산자단체에서 지역 작목반, 로컬푸드 납품농가 등을 일일이 찾아다니면서 로컬푸드와 학교급식을 연결하는 기획 생산을 추진해 올해는 학교급식에 60여 종, 7억 5천만원 상당의 농산물을 공급했다.
이는 작년보다 금액으로는 2억원, 농산물 사용 비율은 5% 이상 상승한 수치이다.
군 관계자는 “지역 먹거리 생산·소비 활성화를 통한 로컬푸드 정책은 농업소득 향상뿐 아니라, 군민의 건강증진, 기후·전쟁 등 불안정한 식량 안보로부터 군민을 지키는 일”이라며 “군민들의 관심과 참여를 확대해 로컬푸드가 활성화되고, 학교급식에 국한돼 있는 급식 행정이 공공급식으로 확대될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
