【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=지난 7일 서원대학교 야외음악당에서 국제라이온스협회 356-D(충북)지구와 서원대학교 구성원들이 함께 김장 나눔 봉사활동을 진행했다.
이날 행사에는 서원대학교 손석민 총장, 국제라이온스협회 356-D(충북)지구 장대권 총재를 비롯해 100여 명의 라이온스 회원과 서원대학교에 재학 중인 미얀마 외국인 유학생 20여 명 등이 참여해 나눔의 가치를 실천했다.
아울러 이날 이범석 청주시장과 윤건영 충청북도교육감이 봉사활동에 동참하며 지역 주민 및 학생들과 소통하는 시간을 가졌다. 또한 이영은 충북도 교육협력특별보좌관은 현장에서 K-가디언 제도 활성화를 위한 취지와 중요성을 알렸다.
봉사 참가자들이 담근 약 5,000㎏의 김치는 인근 복지시설, 독거 어르신, 그리고 외국인 유학생 등에게 전달됐다.
봉사활동에 참여한 난 킨 난다 쩌(NAN KHIN NANDAR KYAW, 호텔외식조리학부 1)학생은 “처음으로 김장을 담그며 한국 문화를 더 깊이 이해할 수 있었고, 지역 주민과 소통하면서 충북에 대한 애정이 더 커졌다”라고 말했다.
국제라이온스협회 356-D(충북)지구 장대권 총재는 “지역 사회와의 상생과 나눔을 실천하는 데 라이온스협회가 앞장서겠다”라며 “앞으로도 다양한 봉사활동을 펼치며 따뜻한 공동체를 만들어가겠다”라고 말했다.
서원대학교 손석민 총장은 “이번 봉사활동이 외국인 유학생들에게는 한국 문화를 체험하고 지역사회와 교류하는 기회가, 지역 주민들에게는 따뜻한 온정을 느낄 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이 됐길 바란다”라고 말했다.
한편 서원대학교와 국제라이온스협회 356-D(충북)지구는 지난달 사회적 가치 실현을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다. 특히 민·관·산·학이 함께하는 후견인 제도인 ‘K-가디언 제도’에 동참하며 외국인 유학생들이 학업과 생활에서 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 다양한 지원 활동을 펼치고 있다.
