대전 중구가 주민의 불편 해소와 교통 안전을 위해 대형 사업용 자동차의 차고지 외 밤샘주차에 대한 정기적인 계도와 단속을 실시하고 있다고 9일 밝혔다.
사업용 자동차는 관련 법령에 따라 지정된 차고지에 주차해야 하지만, 주택가 이면도로와 도로변 등에 불법으로 주차하는 사례가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다.
이로 인해 교통사고와 보행자 통행 불편 등의 민원이 자주 제기되고 있다.
이에 중구는 교통행정과 운수행정팀 직원 5명을 2개 조로 나누어 지난 7일 새벽, 사업용 자동차의 밤샘주차 시간인 자정부터 새벽 4시까지 산성동 보성네거리 인근, 문화동 한밭도서관 일대, 문창동 성당 인근, 옥계동 옥계교 일대 등에서 불법으로 밤샘주차 중인 차량을 대상으로 단속을 실시했다.
중구는 지난해 37회에 걸쳐 야간 대형 사업용 자동차 주차 계도 및 단속 활동을 통해 860대를 계도하고 110대를 단속하는 성과를 거두었다.
중구 관계자는 “사업용 차주는 적법한 장소에 주차해 주길 바라며, 주택가 주차 문제 해결을 위해 지속적인 노력을 기울이겠다.”고 밝혔다.
중구는 앞으로도 주민의 안전과 편의를 위해 단속을 강화할 계획이다.
