(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 9일, 보건복지부에서 주관하는 2024년 장애인복지사업 평가에서 우수 지자체로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면 보건복지부는 장애인복지 수준 제고와 우수사례 발굴을 위해 전국 229개 시·군·구를 대상으로 시도별 추천과 장애인 단체, 학계 등으로 구성된 위원회의 종합평가를 거쳐 우수 지자체를 선정했다.
남동구는 이번 평가에서 장애인 자립 지원, 장애인 서비스 지원, 장애인복지 전달체계, 우수사례 분야 등 4개 분야 14개 항목에서 전반적으로 높은 평가를 받아 인천시 10개 군·구 중 유일하게 ‘우수’ 기관으로 선정됐다.
남동구는 장애인 활동 지원, 발달장애인 돌봄서비스, 일자리 제공, 평생교육 등 다양한 장애인 복지사업을 추진하고 있으며, 장애인과 비장애인이 편견 없이 함께 할 수 있도록 지역사회와의 협력 강화에도 힘쓰고 있다.
박종효 남동구청장은 “장애인에 대한 사회적 인식개선과 편의 증진 등을 통해 장애인과 비장애인이 편견 없이 함께 할 수 있는 남동구가 되도록 노력하겠다”며 “이번 수상에 힘입어 앞으로도 장애인과 비장애인이 모두가 활기찬 일상을 누릴 수 있도록 앞으로도 최선을 다하겠다”고 덧붙였다.

또한, 남동구가 9일, 학교를 중심으로 치매와 더불어 살아가는 치매 공존 사회를 준비하기 위해 인천동부초등학교를 ‘치매 극복 선도학교’로 지정했다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면, 치매 극복 선도학교로 지정되면 재학생과 교직원이 치매 바로 알기와 치매 인식개선을 위한 교육을 받고, 이를 통해 치매 환자 배려 및 배회 어르신 관심 갖기 등 치매 극복 활동에 적극 참여 하게 된다.
동부초는 인천가치함께 상록봉사단 소속 교사 진행 하에 3, 4학년 재학생 7학급을 대상으로 뇌 건강 교육을 받았다.
