(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 지난 7일(현지시간) 독일 뮌헨에서 개최된 ‘2024 유엔(UN)지속가능발전 혁신상’ 시상식에서 글로벌 목표에 5년 앞선 ‘2045 탄소중립’ 추진 성과를 인정받아 국가, 도시 부문에서 톱(TOP) 5에 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 유엔공업개발기구(UNIDO)와 독일 경제의회(German Senate of Economy)가 주관하는 지속가능발전 혁신상은 지속가능발전목표(Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs) 달성에 기여한 기관을 선정해 세계 곳곳에서 효과적이고 효율적으로 지속가능한 발전 정책을 공유하고 있다.
유엔공업개발기구(UNIDO)는 개도국의 산업 발전 현대화 지원과 개도국-선진국 간 협력을 강화하고, 산업의 녹색전환과 신재생에너지 보급 지원 등 국제적 탄소중립에 앞장서고 있으며, 독일은 세계 최고 수준의 과학기술을 보유한 국가로 유럽연합(EU)의 탄소중립을 주도하고 있다.
